Given the propensity for modern cartridge creations to not make the grade, and if you want reliable access to brass and factory ammo, I gotta believe the smart money is on 6.5 Swede, 260 Rem, and 6.5 Creedmore (in that order).

Yes T3's have long actions.. But my question is will their .270WSM DM handle a COAL of 3.00" or close to it.. If they do, then for me that would be the way to go for a fairly lwt. hunting rifle.. Cheaper than a Kimber, lighter than a M70 or R77.. I bought a Tikka WSM magazine this past Sunday, the max internal length is 2.905" to the best of my ability to measure it. Of course you'd want to subtract a few thousandths from the cartridge OAL to give the nose and base some clearance.
Gunnery, gunnery, gunnery. Hit the target, all else is twaddle!

Didn't they have a 6.5mm short action magnum a few decades ago?

Need to find some 6.5 SAUM brass dies and reamer first and someone to import it to Canada..

If Buck Rodgers had a deer rifle..... Didn't they have a 6.5mm short action magnum a few decades ago?

Dang nice buck there! Rifle looks better without the Buck Rodgers rib. Bet the 350 hammered that buck.

I would bet it will be a factory round.
Think about it. The rifle companies have to come out with new chamberings, even if there is no reason to.
6.5's are growing in popularity.
Its a logical step.
I probably hit more elk with a pickup than you have with a rifle. I have yet to see anyone claim Leupold has never had to fix an optic. I know I have sent a few back. 2 MK 6s, a VX-6, and 3 VX-111s.

If it's picked up by a factory, I hope it's Hornady! They'll give it full support and develop ammo that works.
Winchester will let it fade in three years.
Remington will advertise it and let it die in six months.
I'd thought the .30 Rem AR was a possibility, glad I waited six months...

Since Hornady already makes the brass, it wouldn't be a stretch to see them offer factory ammo with the 143 ELDX
