Had Dish about 3 years ago, have had Direct Xtra pkg for the last 3 years. Price keeps going up. Thinking about going back to Dish and get the Top 200 with a locked in price for 2 years.
Experiences and opinions please.

I'm not paying for 200 channels that nobody watches. We have Netflix and that's plenty.

Dish has the lowest customer service ratings on the planet.
Direct Tv is actually pretty good.
I've had them both, the only issue with Direct tv is the cost goes up after a couple of years... otherwise it's all good.

Had Dish for lots of years, got mad and switched to DirecTv.
I currently hate them as much as Dish.
I hate the fact that new clients get free stuff and the old, loyal clients get charged for everything.
Switching to an antenna and Hulu or some such thing.
I am MAGA.

I couldn't get Direct to cooperate with my pay per view. Often I would have to call them after the fights already started. Never had the problem with Dish.

DISH about 20 years now, that will probably change as better internet services become available.
Direct is in concert with Century Link, the worst ripoff company I have ever delt with.

Dish for almost 20 years, no real complaints. I looked into Direct and their customer service ratings were brutal, as well as their costs.

I've had Direct for a couple of years. Price just continues to go up. Gonna look at Dish next month see what they have to offer.

I've had Uverse and Disk. Got Direct now. Tech who installed Uverse told me Direct had the best picture. Switched from Uverse because of better price from Directv. Hasbeen

We had cable TV service from the phone company and years ago they converted to offering internet only and sold all their TV customers to Direct. So we ended up with a 2 year contract with Direct, more TVs in more rooms, 2 DVRs, more channels and about the same amount of total monthly fee.
I programmed every outdoor show and documentary into the DVR and never had time to watch them. I'd turn the hunting shows on just for background noise but not really pay attention...
about the time that 2 year contract expired, my wife was sitting in the living room with the remote in her hand pressing buttons.... 873 channels and not a damn thing on worth watching.
We cancelled it.
That was at least 5 or 6 years ago (2 Olympic games, I know because the ONLY thing I wanted to watch on TV in those years was the opening ceremonies... so I got invited to friends' or relatives' houses and both London and Rio ceremonies were boring enough that I probably won't try to get an invitation to watch TV for the Tokyo ceremonies (especially if they drop 50m pistol!)).
I have NOT missed TV AT ALL!
I REALLY wish we had cancelled TV when the kids were young and at home!
Right now, Youtube is playing me some hobbyist's video about his rifle and ammo choices... and I'm not really paying much attention... but it makes nice background noise...
I don't know that Direct or Dish is really a "rip off". To build and launch a coupla Geostationary Satellites is about a billion dollars and someone has to pay for that, the in-home hardware and all that programming content... but it won't be me...
Shoot good!

Had both. Told both to take a hike!
The antenna on the roof brings in about thirty channels of free broadcast TV, plus a few public ed TV, music stations, shopping network, and religious channels.

We live far enough out (no cell phone coverage, 1 radio station and nothing for over the air TV) that satellite TV (and internet) are the only option. We have had Dish for 12 years and they have actually been pretty good to us. Some of their contractors are weak, but my wife just negotiated a reduced rate for 18 months based on the fact they were giving lots of freebies to new subscribers and she said, "how about us long time subscribers."

I swap back and forth between Dish and Direct, every two years.
2 year contract and the first year is about half price, so I save for 1 year and pay the full price 1 year... then change.
Its not much, about $600 every 2 years.

Have had both and prefer Dish. Both should offer better incentives for long term customers. This is the area where I have had little better luck with Dish.
