the .357 lever is a fantastic deer killer. I've loaded ~180gr hardcast, and found them entirely effective on our puny TX whitetails.
easy to shoot, and a ton of fun to practice with 38 spls. my favorite rifle is a stainless octagon barrelled Puma.
my son has used it on several deer.
