Tiny E and I headed for the Elkhorns to beat the heat- a glorious 47 degrees at 6:30 at the trailhead (70 on our return)- 8.5 miles with over 2000' of gain- great outing smile

Went to the mtns this weekend. Did a decent hike yesterday up around 10K and got my upper body workout wrestling in some nice trout in heavy current.

Great week of workout here. Moving heavier and heavier weights in all my major lifts and stepping up the conditioning. Ruck sack walks and other heart pumping, endurance type workouts. A new favorite is do a pull up drop down and drop down and do a burpee. Jump up and repeat for 5 rounds as fast as I can. Then I rest 60 seconds and do 5 more for 5 sets. Makes me good and nauseous, sweaty and shaky. Each time I do these I throw in another set. Good stuff

Thanks! 61 years old now, and I refuse to run anymore. It hurts too doggone much! But I'll bicycle, hike, snowshoe or cross-country ski all day.

Might even lift some weights, do some situps, pushups or pull-ups now and again as well.

Semper Fi indeed.

Not sure, I ate 'em at 5200.

Smoked 'em with alder wood between 150-200 for 3 hours.

Pressed for time last night, but got in an hour on the bike (indoor trainer....had to get done and be home with the kids).....16.5mi in 59 min.

4.5mi the day before in 40 min running out on the road.

Need to lift tonight, and probably hit the bike again. T-storms forecast, so probably will be indoors on the bike again. That or the dreadmill.

It's just the Yellowstone caldera waking up... what's the worst that could happen? crazy

We no longer have goats after ~20 years so as a result I've been getting a pretty serious workout re-clearing an area the last couple days. Machete, wheelbarrow, and a lawn mower doing things it was never intended to do. Sore.

Oh- and as I type, wife is suffering up an 8-miler in NoCal that terminates over 9k feet after 4000+ gain... and it's supposed to top 90F today... 40-lb pack plus water... wish her luck! grin

I'm home minding the doggies and running IPA tests.

Buddy and I rode 30 miles yesterday, he's on a hand cycle as his legs are paralyzed.

We really put the hammer down on one deserted 11 mile stretch, covering it in just over 30 minutes, for about 20 mph! That's pretty good for us!

He's hard to keep up with on the flats and downhill, but I catch him on the uphill portions.

Yup, trying to heal up and get fit again!

Wow... huge pic. Huh.

Nick is not exactly a woodsy dog. In fact I'm not sure he IS a dog. We had to carry him across the creek numerous times. [Linked Image]
