Is it a perception of hypocrisy or something akin to rejection of faith?

Not a Christian but I thought that a basic tenant was we are all sinners even if saved through the grace of Jesus. People that try to 'go without sin' and fail are still saved nonetheless. Am I wrong?

Only partially. many Christians will tell you they are still sinners but only because most churches still ignorantly teach that. Saved people become one with Christ.You can't be both one with Christ and a sinner at the same time.

The misconception comes from thinking that sinning makes you a sinner. It doesn't,not if you are saved. I know that seems hypocritical but people that are truly saved don't want to sin. Of coarse they will,but their nature, or Spirit to be technical,has changed to not want to sin.

Think of it like this, before a person was saved by becoming one with Christ, no good deed or righteous act could save them. The only thing that could save them is trusting on the grace of Christ,that he paid for all their sins. That faith in Christ transforms them and they are born again,one with Christ. Now saved, an unrighteous act doesn't unsave them any more than a righteous act could have saved them.

The caveat is that when a person is really saved they want to stop sinning. Any person confessing Christ as their savior who really doesn't want to stop sinning is just a liar.


My disagreement with your statement is that all are not sinners. They are not sinners because they sin. A person is only a sinner if they aren't saved. A saved person is righteous before God,not because of their acts,but because of their trust in Christ.

The only difference between saved people and unsaved people is Christ. It is not based on their level of sin. However the saved person will continue to rid himself of sin and continue to resist sin. How well he does will depend on how well he understands that he has changed into a new person at salvation. people only change when they see themselves as different.

We're all sinners, even the most devoted Christians. This is someone who comes out of living a sinful life to start going to church and making an effort to clean up his life. Then he slides back into his old life. We all backslide at some point to some degree.

As I said above,we do all sin, but we are not sinners any longer. The scriptures calls us the righteousness of God, saints, redeemed,joint heirs with Christ, ambassadors for Christ,one spirit with God, but the scriptures never call saved people sinners. It does teach us not to sin,but that sin doesn't make us sinners again or else we would need to get saved again every time we sinned.

I think I see what you're driving at, but people who commit sins not being sinners still strikes me the same way as the Islamic State not being Islamic.
