I just added another unneeded gun to the collection. I peered over the counter at my Slidell LA SW and saw a brushed (not matte) stainless 77/22 for $399. I couldn't resist it at $379 with my military discount. I just looked them up online and they are showing a sale price of $399 nationally. Get 'em while they are hot!
I just mounted the $119 Redfield I got from Whittakers. It's a great looking and feeling combo.

I see the deal, but it say "no online sales". There seem to be no stores located anywhere in the north east.
I dont care for the plastic stock in a 22LR, so factor in a wood stock and I guess I dont really want one. Looks like any caliber of 22LR is sold out. A 22mag or 22hornet in ss/synthetic would be pretty useful little gun.
That is a great price. If Ruger sold the 77/22 priced like that they might still be in production. Assuming they could make a profit at 400.

From what I have read they have all been threaded for the past several years. I haven't taken this one apart to look.

I got the scope mounted and a visual bore sighting done. I don't know when I'll get a chance to shoot it.

That's a smoking deal.
Good score.

That being said you wouldn't be the first person who bought a new M77/22 only to find out it was new old stock and was a slip fit design, but that is happening less and less anymore.

And not everyone considers that to be a bad thing. I thought that ones with the new style stock were all threaded, but don't know for certain.
What fresh Hell is this?

I almost pulled the trigger on a blue /synthetic but didn't do it. I think it was $415.

Pappy i have 3 of the slip fit models and would love to get my hands on a threaded model. one of my slip fit models does shoot very erratically by my standards and it will be interesting cleaning that one up. the barrel to receiver fit is very loose compared to the others and will be my focus of attention. i also plan on shooting it in one of the other stocks that has been pillared and bedded then note the difference. i will probably end up bedding the shank to the action with the purple loc-tite and release on the shank and the receiver. i should get into that sometime this early spring.

I saw them here for the price as well, and they almost got me. A couple or three years ago, I would have been all over it. But, I'm happy with the American for half that price, so I passed.

There is a 77/22 mag NIB for $365 on gunbroker. (Blue/synthetic) edit: I was wrong. It's $369. Link: http://www.gunbroker.com/item/613638413

Wow, that's a great price. Some on there have an asking price nearly twice that high. I have a Savage heavy barrel 22 magnum that will do everything I need it to do, but that gun has my interest. The Ruger feels like a quality gun in the hand. The Savages look ugly and feel cheap, but with their accuracy it's hard not to love them.

Good by, I think I paid nearly $400 for my boat paddle 77/22 30 years ago.
