What scope are you using on your AR? Do you have it set up for close range with a low power 1-4 illuminated scope or did you go with a scope for close range and long range?
I put a 3-9 SWFA on mine and now I am thinking maybe I should have gotten the 1-4 since I already have a long range 308 that bucks the wind better with heavier bullets for that purpose.
A few Weaver fixed 2.5x of various generations and a Leupold VXR Patrol. Unless it is setup for long range varminting or calling, I see no need for higher magnification.
I'm using an older Burris FF 2-7x35mm w/a #4 reticle on my rifle. It's used for punching paper, plinking, ringing steel out to 500 yards and thumping coyotes.
the only real difference between a good tracker and a bad tracker, is observation. all the same data is present for both. The rest, is understanding what you're seeing.
My favorite and primary AR has a Trijicon Accupoint 1-4 w/ green triangle post reticle. It has both Tritium and fiberoptic illumination and is fast and easy to use from 400 yards. It has seen heavy use for about 4 years and seems to be indestructible. I like it a lot.
