This is just moving too fast for you isn't it. You see, I'm not the guy doing the work. It's my stock that's being worked on. We're doing it this way because I have no work working experience, therefore no expertise.
Catch up or shut up.

Oh I've read all the posts, multiple times. I don't know you so I won't comment on your wood skills but based on the credentials you've given, you have been around stocks for some time.

I'm more than a little surprised that you aren't man enough to admit there may more than one way to get to Pittsburg. You have a certain way of doing things and that's fine. Your methods work well for you. Others may do things differently than you and that seems to be a problem for you. Too bad. You likely have a lot to offer but people have grown tired of listening to your arrogance, smugness and unwillingness to consider others may have methods that might work well for them.

You enter this discussion and state that "you are surprised Sitka Deer won't admit there is more than one way to get to Pittsburgh" referring to scraping a stock with a butcher knife and sanding with a homeowner jitterbug. Let's not forget about wanting to clamp the receiver in a vise as a handle. To me that implies that you understand fine woodworking and are defending the method of butcher knife scraping.
Photos hide many flaws and the neophyte will not recognize sub standard work, so you will probably be pleased with the results and it will be hard for those here to determine quality of the refinish.
Those of us who have a background in woodworking see things as they truly are, from the inappropriate tools used to absurd technique and bravado to the filthy shop. Like I said (about the quality of the refinish you will receive), good luck with that.

Those of us who have seen BS before see things as they truly are too.

Yes, I am a slow learner.
Began as a carpenter in the mid 70's then slowly progressed to Shipwright on Tallships and also had a small company doing yacht cabinetry (on classic wooden vessels) to fill in between large projects until 2000. Took me quite a while to learn my trades, but I learned from excellent artisans and craftsmen.

rickbin, why has this been allowed to transpire on your website with no seeming repercussions towards sitkadeer to make this matter right once and for all.
he accepted the job
did a intial inspection
said job would be no problem
then had more excuses about anything and everything on why the job was not getting done
detailed in depth excuses no less......
then he said customer pizzed him off
and he could not do good work while mad
(maybe he should go see a shrink and get on happy pills)

the customers property should have been sent back on customers 1st request to do so

and all of this has transpired on 24hr campfire

6 yrs later ..... nada.....
he needs to return the property to the customer or pay for the items plain and simple
one or the other......

and I suppose this will all be spun again so it was the customers fault.......

many users are wondering why this has been seemingly swept under the rug

after his attempt at a job Sitka said he could do
and then cracking the stock down the length of its grain when trying to make the recess for the cartridge trap (more than likely this is what happened)
he returns the barrel blank and nothing else

6 yrs later customer still has not received back the stock or cartridge trap
or financial compensation for the parts never returned

ya.... Sitka is a real good guy
real stand-up member of the upright citizens brigade here on 24 hr
impeccable integrity for sure.......

if a lessor member had pulled this chit with someone elses property like Sitka has.

every clique and every oracle/postcount "lord" who thinks they have great powers of being a informal moderator/gatekeeper of 24hr.
would have dropped the hammer of thor on that person of "lessor status"

and that is the gawtdammed truth............
