Traded another rifle for another boat paddle 243 the other day....

I have one in 7mm-08. I can't think of any better utilitarian hunting rifle. Mine cries to be abused but I take care of it. A few of them fetch obscene prices.

This one would likely bring a tidy sum on GunBroker. Seems the 22-250, 260 and 7mm-08 are frequently hot commodities.

A few weeks ago, I saw 2 blued 7-08's go for $1200 and $1400 on gunbroker. It seems the stainless ones go for more. I think it is certainly worth more to someone else than me. It crossed my mind that I could easily get what it would take to get a LAW, Supergrade, or the better part of another build.

I just picked up a like new Mk II stainless Boat Paddle in .223 a couple of weeks ago. I am likely to replace the stock with a later Ruger synthetic stock and save the boat paddle for a while. I love the older stainless 77 MkII's but have never cared for the boat paddle stocks. I know, blasphemy!

And, that's exactly what it is, battleship grade. I could tell you some horror stories with mine and it kept on zero the whole time.

I have a .300WM that I bought new for $380 a few years back. Took a few critters with it, still in good shape.

Has anyone put one of those stocks on a Hawkeye? I'm assuming they would fit alright.

Any real difference between the polished stainless MKII and the Hawkeye other than the finish?

LC6 trigger, which in my experience is slightly better than the MkII trigger. And I said "slightly".

I have a new later Ruger Synthetic if you mant to swap.

What do those take-off Boat Paddle stocks usually sell for?
I've got one in new factory shape (magnum barrel channel forearm) that I've had for a while.

I think one of these in .338 win mag is about the best all around rifle for here in AK. My dad has a 77/22 mag with the skeleton stock and it is a tack driver. If I found a decent deal on a nice paddle stocked m77 up here in a caliber I liked I would probably take it home as an armageddon rifle. They are indestructible.

IIRC prairie goat sold a 7-08 for a nearly insane amount a couple of years ago. I'd trip that thing for that kind of money in a heartbeat unless it had some high amount of sentimental value attached to it.

They remind me of a wife of a Russian beet farmer. Utilitarian but ugly as hell!

Personally I don't think they are ugly...the tikka is uglier
