I was wondering if any other members have kicked themselves for letting a great gun deal go buy without acting on it quick enough? Here are just a few that I can remember

Remington 600 in a 6.5mag for $500..

Remington 600 in a 350 mag for $400..

HS Precision in a 223 with a 8x25 Leopold = $1500

KIDD custom 22= $700

Jarrett Rifle in a 22-250= $2000

Leupold 4x12x40 Fire Dot= $300

Just missed a real nice 6.5x284 on this site yesterday=$1200

The moral of this message is, if you see something you want, don't wait, buy it

95% condition Winchester 54, SN 125x, in .270WCF for $400.

Nazi marked FN Browning 1922, 90%+ and all original for $250.

Original Colt 1851 Richards Mason conversion in worn but working order and accurate for $500.

Gotta stop thinking about those and more right now.

Still kicking myself over an 1893 Marlin in .32-40 in the late 90's. It was $500. Also a well worn 1895 Winchester .30-40 for the same price around the same time.

A pre-'64 Model 70 Winchester .375 H&H in good condition for $375.

Of course, that was in 1974, when $375 was more than my month's take-home pay. It was equivalent to around $2000 today, which wouldn't be a bad price for pre-'64 .375.

But overall have been lucky more often than unlucky on gun deals.

A NIB Browning Low Wall at a really good price because it was a 243 and I didn't yet have my head on straight about the 243 and good bullets.

A like new Ruger 77 red pad, tang safety in like new condition, in 250 sav for sale here by 1899sav, for a mere $700. Also included a halfway decent scope with the deal. Still kicking myself for not jumping on that!

Like I didn't already know what a Montana looks like.

A Colt 3" Python for $1000 ~ 2004. Yes, I said 3", not 2½". I knew it to be rare, saw it in a case, walked away, thought about it for maybe 30 seconds, then turned to go back to buy it, just in time to see a guy with a big smile say, "I'll take it!" frown

They bring $6k plus, now.

Also a Colt LE901, the first one I saw was marked at $2200. I coulda swung it, but thought it was a little high. A couple weeks alter the Sandy Hook tragedy occurred and a month later I could have more than tripled my investment.

But I have had some good scores, too.

I passed up a Springfield M1A with serial# 177777. As a guy who digs unique serial numbers, I've kicked myself for not buying it..........even though it wasn't really a "good deal."

Only one.

A Mexican Mauser partially completed custom in the Classifieds here, years ago, chambered .257 Roberts. As I recall, it was a project the seller decided to part with, not a thing wrong with it, and everything was included: $300

Once at my local gun shop there was a PH trying to exchange his Rigby .416 for a push feed Winchester in .458. If memory serves, it was a double bridged mauser action.
I believe it was 1980 and he had exhausted his stock of Kynoch ammo, the last of which would missfire occasionaly, and could not find any.
He would get rid of the gun for the new Winchester, or even pay something on top, I am not sure... The shop owner would not want it, and I refused it as well, ignorant as I was. I do not know how the story ended, but every now and then it comes to my mind.

I think this will win the biggest idiot contest.
When I was 18 I started deer hunting. Around that same time my neighbor's wife passed away. She was an old German lady and a real avid hunter and she kept everything in immaculate condition. Her husband called me over to their house and offered me all her guns and the 6 or 8 gun cabinet for $200. I had never had $200 all at once and I figured it was just a bunch of old stuff anyway so I passed without even opening the cabinet. I can only imagine what was in there. It keeps me limber though as I kick myself in the butt every time I think about it.

The times that I have missed out on really good deals on something I wanted or could flip for a nice profit was because I did not have the cash to buy it at the time.

Gunshop going out of business in 1998 had brand new Win M70 SS 375H&H under $500. Bought a 30-06 but passed on the 338 and 375.
