Picked up a used Ruger American Ranch rifle the other day in .300 BLK. I've been interested in this round to play with, but I hate chasing brass with an AR so when I found this one I thought why not. I felt like I got a pretty good deal for the whole package with 148 rounds of ammunition, it was less than I could purchase the rifle for new with the Nikon P300 scope. Not too fond of the CMMG SV brake, but I have plans for a suppressor.

First groups with the factory 120 grain ammunition was promising. The 220 grain subsonic ammo didn't shoot as well, but it was well enough that I had no problems hitting 4X3 diamonds at 100 yards off the bipod. Going to take it out today and test the BDC reticle of the Nikon scope and see how it does.

First group a little to the left, but I can live with it.

I have to use supersonic ammunition to stay legal in CO, but I'm thinking I might have to try it out of state on some Whitetails and Hogs one of these days. Absolutely no recoil worth mentioning from this rifle, and even with the brake it's a lot quieter than I expected. Anyone else playing with one of these rifles?

Well I hope we can meet up, my work schedule is hard to predict.

What suppressor are you using? I'm leaning towards a Thunderbeast Ultra5.

good looking little package, I've found some good winchester 150 grain hunting rounds... they have thinner jackets to expand better at 300 BLK velocities. looking to try them out on critters this weekend.

194 lehigh sub sonics, kill deer to 200, expand to 200 for sure. Accuracy is not quite what I prefer but its good enough to kill with lung shots on whitetails.

Just FYI.

Still working to the quietest load for suppressed... playing with different powders. Fast is your friend on burn rates.

If you are shooting factory ammo, I have found Nosler 125 grain Ballistic Tips give excellent accuracy in my RAR. I had some trouble with failure to fire with Remington ammo. I caleld Ruger and they said Remington ammo could be a problem.

There was no greater freedom than when I would leave Holiday Park Fish Camp heading my airboat west toward the Big Cypress. Fuel for 4 days, a good machete, an ice chest. No phone, no radio. Just God and me and the Everglades.

I have 3lbs of H110, as that seems to be popular for the BLK. I'll probably stick to 110-125 grain supersonic loads for now. Colorado has a 1000 ft-lb requirement at 100 yards for big game. I haven't found a Sub load that hits that mark yet in any of the loads I've researched.

Nosler is supposed to be releasing a 220 gran Ballistic Tip round nose boat tail bullet that's supposed to expand well at BLK speeds. I might give those a try where I can hunt subsonic, might give them a try in my .30-40 Krag as well. Either way I'm sure I'll have fun playing with the rifle

Set up a 12X12 plate at 300 today and tried the BDC Reticle out. First group on steel was a little high.

Adjusted down and held on the 297 yard hash mark acoording to Nikon's ballistic App, a bit happier where the bullets were hitting. I need to shoot the ammo across a chrony to get it dialed in better. The P-300 scope sucks for precision aiming, it covers a lot of target.

I have an AR in the blackout and I used it with supersonic 125 nbt's on hogs and it worked well. For rabbits and rock chucks I've ran 110 vmaxes at 2500 fps and they are pretty explosive. I worked up a subsonic load with 308 amaxes that was 1 Moa at 100 yards.

I like the cartridge enough that when a local shop closed out their kimber aderondacks in that chambering for half off a few weeks ago I had to pic up one of those too. Now I need a suppressor.

I think shooting the BO is big fun. I hve gone throuogh a lot of ammo to find what shoots the best. The Rem. subsonic 220 gr's are quiet but lack accuracy. In my 4 BO rifles I am lucky to get 3 MOA out of them. I recently started using Gemtech 187 gr projectiles and these are 1.5 all day long through my AAC 7.62 SDN suppressor. If I'm hog hunting and I know the shots will be under 200 yards, I will sometimes shoot PNW Arms 125 gr. NBT. I get 1 MOA with this excelelnt ammo. I keep one AR dialed in just for the PNW ammo. Try a few different kinds to see what shoots the best for you. The Gemtech .300 BO isn't cheap but it's accurate and quiet!

I load the 125's and 110's supersonic with PP300MP. I get 2250fps from the 125's and 2500 from the 110's from a 16" AR. Both are around 1moa at 100 pretty consistently. I'm not sure why it's such a fun little round but it is. I can't wait to get a suppressor on the new kimber and load up some 220g subsonic coated cast bullets. It should be a fun plinker.

I also picked up some of the nosler 110g tipped bullets pretty cheap so I'll have to see how they shoot too. I sent 2000 lake city brass to a guy in Michigan and he cut it down, swagged the pockets and resized it for me pretty cheap. If the nosler 110's shoot I'm going to load about 1000 of them on my progressive because it's an up year for rabbits.
