A #1S in .45-70 handles recoil better, IMO. And the 22" barrel is pretty convenient inside a blind. There were a few made with 26" barrels which some like better than the 22's.

And the Ruger is not difficult to disassemble, unlike the Mirokus. Though I have heard Lee Shaver has a tool that makes it easier.

the trapper has company now. the #3 has a few issues (replaced front sight and forearm, sling stud in butt, missing ejector spring), but is a solid shooter. i'll have to start another thread...
