I know this is an old thread but Grice Gun Shop is currently selling Ruger Americans in a 358 win.

I wonder if the predator has enough "meat" to bore out to 358 win and keep threads on there. My shinny Montana 308 barrel was big enough to be bored to 358

If you never shot and subsequently hunted with the 358 Winchester you have no dog in this thing. My 358 Winchester kills have been close to dramatic stops. Most were DRTs. I have used medium bores for quite a while and they are quite effective. It should look like a good caliber for the RAR. With a 1/12 twist barrel you could shoot from 357 pistol bullets to 310 gr Woodlieghs. Wilson Combat sells a suppressor said to be useable on a 358. That would appeal to some of us. Quite a range of uses for that gun. Guess I will have to watch for a 308 to rebore! Rusty

It’s s special run. I think they only had a couple/few hundred made. It’s in their latest sale flyer for their big spring sale which is coming up in the next week or 2. I just got the flyer in the mail on Tuesday.
Oh, and believe it or not, deer bite. Fairly hard.

I was just there two weeks ago and specifically asked them about .358's and the guy looked at me like I had two heads.

They’ve had the whelens for over a year, maybe close to 2 now. They’ve sold a good amount of them. It’s interesting to watch them pop up on other classifieds sights/gun broker for hundreds more than the Grice price, simply because they are sought after and people didn’t know Grice had a run of them.

Looks threaded and with the 450 Bushmaster Mag?
That'd be cool.

I have one of the Ruger American 358 win. I can't post a picture here because it's too large. Inbox me if you would like to see a picture of one.

That'd be cool. It does look cool! However, I've only invested in a .30 cal suppressor which sucks for this rifle.

I doubt they'll ever do an American in .358 (not "trendy" enough), but you can bet your ass they will do them in the new "Legend" (what a stupid moniker). In fact I heard/read that Randy's in MI already has dibs on the first batch.

Thanks, RMHZ1979. I need and want a .358 about like another winky, but I just had to look and scored a Howa Alpine for about half of retail ($599)!
What fresh Hell is this?

I am glad you found a deal! I really wasn't looking to buy another gun when I searched their catalog, but when I saw that 358 I had to have it. It finishes my 35 caliber collection (I have a 7600 carbine 35 Rem., Ruger MKII 350 Rem. Mag, and a 7600 35 Whelen).

You certainly need a .35 Winchester, might need a .351 WSL, and should think about a 9x57, which from several sources appears to be a .35 in some cases. I'm leaving out the .350 Legend, at least until all the whining stops.
What fresh Hell is this?
