Bristoe's Taco Bell thread got me to thinkin' about the simpler things. When I was a yout', I may or may not have occasionally appropriated a can of Dad's beer from the garage fridge. Back then, an Old Milwaukee or Milwaukee's Best was quite refreshing. Even now, I don't have a problem in the least downing a few. They're certainly not my favorites, but I find them to be more than serviceable. On the other hand, Bud Light is a non-starter. I feel sick immediately, and get a headache within 15 minutes. It remains about the only beer I'll turn down even when free. (Along with the crap with the lime flavoring.) What about the rest of you? FC

To me, THE best cheap beer is Pabst. It remains one of the few remaining beers with a definite maltiness, good color, and moderate hops flavor and aroma. In times past, your two Milwaukee brews, along with Stroh's, were also still real beer.
Real beer disappeared when breweries started making beer that appealed to women. Weak, watery, pale, and empty describe what's left as "beer".

Still around. And cheap. I can get the 30 pack in my hometown liqour store for usually under $20. Plus they still can it with the sportsman theme. We refer to them as deer beers, bird beers (pheasants) and fish beers (trout). Never know which you are going to get. If I want "good" beer, then I go with Surly.... Kaiser Norton

Busch light and Rainer are my cheap beers of choice. But at that level, most all are about the same and have such little flavor it doesn't really matter.

I can't drink miller light or coors light. Both do what bud does to you.
But as I've aged, I also tend to not care for beer much at all. Has to have some flavor if I drink one. Dos Equis, Shiner Bock or Alaskan Amber.
Mostly I just drink a bit of bourbon or scotch, but even that is fairly rare these days.
Not much excitement in drinking anymore.

Coors Light is my favorite cheap beer.
Recently brought home a case of Stella Artois. I like it.

Stella is tasty.
I can't drink more than 2 or 3 beers, I get so bloated from it.

I like Rainer, but alas you can't find it around here. I remember getting my first Rainer out of a beer machine in Kodiak.

Love me some Budweiser but that is about the only mainstream beer I can drink any more.
No idea why.

A couple beers a month help to clean out the kidneys, move out the gravel, to prevent stones. Shiner bock. Guinness, if I can just buy a couple bottles, but usually don't sell by the bottle. Once in awhile Grolsch.

Stella ain't cheap.
IMO, the most drinkable cheap beers are
1. Killian's Irish Red 2. Coors - The Banquet Beer
