Not a surprise to me. If Ed couldn't produce the 704 rifle at a suitable profit with a $4K price point, LAW probably couldn't produce even a knock off at $1,500 or whatever their opening price paint was.

I know they used Timney triggers, Ed used Jewell triggers and Shilen barrels. His stocks were made by McM, reportedly to his design. I have several Hunters Edge by McM. Stood side by side, I can't tell any difference between the McM Hunters Edge and Ed's proprietary stock, other than the paint is different. Ed also used a proprietary metal coating which is very good. I'm sure with all his 1911 work, he'd about perfected the metal coating business. And his bottom metal was steel, not aluminum.

My Damara is a .300 Win Mag. It has a 3.6", not 3.4" box mag. The chamber is throated for longer COAL than factory, which give more powder room in the case. The optimal COAL is a perfect fit in the longer box mag. Every detail like that is perfect. I like to mess with new guns. There was NOTHING (somewhat to my dismay and amazement) that I could do to improve this gun. All the kinks were out, it was(is) just about perfect.

Now, LAW surely wasn't building them to this standard, but it's hard to build a knock off Rolls Royce without it still costing a few bucks. The 704 action requires some serious CNC machining.

Oh well.

Here's a picture of the real deal, wearing a Victory 2.5-10x50.

I looked for the post saying they're out of business but couldn't find anything. Their website still appears to be working not that that means anything either.

It's a great design. Those who got good LAW rifle have a gem, for sure. Those who got the others have a situation. Hope they can work out the kinks without too much trouble and expense.

Looks like they are still responding on their Facebook page. Does the guy who started that thread have any connection to LAW? It looks like that was his first post ever.

I don't know. I have never shot it...yet.

I will post something if I do decide to shoot it.

I'd ask what you're waiting on but I've got several rifles that I've never shot as well so I get it.

Dear FireFriends,

Legendary appears to be alive and well and in the process of moving to a different manufacturing location. They are going to focus just on firearms and not mess with ammo or anything else.

This change in venue means that we still will be able to buy their rifles. This is good.

Sincerely,

Thomas

Think that Mark and his closest workers are going to down size and get their product beyond general industrial specifications.

He is, from what I understand, is going to be more directly overseeing production and tolerances.

I talked to a lady at LAW this morning. They are moving and will no longer produce the Professional, the Closer or the Bobcat, but are still in business according to her.

Do they still intend to honor the warranties on the models no longer being produced?
