Tim-this rifle stuff all comes down to personal likes for the most part.

The Ti is a nice rifle, the best thing about it for me is I like the feel of the stock and I also love that fact that I can get a Jewell for it. The action is a shovel but it do work.

The Little Sky is one that has most of my affection at this point, as much as I like the Ti the Littles Sky horns me up more. I just wish I could get a Jewell for it.

Now the LSS, many here love the lil bugger and that is fine for them. I appreciate the look but for me and for my taste I don't like the way it handles in my paws. If it were me the first thing I would do is to trip the plywood handle and if I couldn't find someone to buy it I'd just use it for kindling for elk camp but it would not see any hill time if'n I owned it. Next I would get an Edge for it, then I would get a Jewell and then I would get a 3 posi........grins

Ah heck guess I will just have to live without the Jewell and go with the Little Sky, for me and for what I like in a rifle it is hands down the best one going.

Now others have and no doubt will see it differently. Now if I could just get them to chamber it in a 270/08.......evil I know.

But, that is just me.

Can someone give me the correct link to the
24 Hour Campfire? Evidently, I have my web link confused with "BedTime For Bambi" with a 308 win......................

I have never actually "hefted" the mountain LSS, just seen pix and read about it on (gasp) the 'fire.
Methinks a little sky in 7-08 is in my future...

Mark D. told me about a 7-08 in Remy Ti at one of the local shops here. I went and checked it out and it was a tight little rifle. It would be an awesome horseback and scabbard or everyday lightweight killing machine. It and the short action Montana's.

I gotta go get a look at a Ti in the 7-08, I think my local shop might have one of those in stock. They just never seem to carry the Mountain LSS.

Mark, I tried to raise you over the weekend but couldn't connect. I'm around all week... when you have the time give a ring.

Tim, when you get an LSS Mtn in your hands you'll know why Mark and I hate the handle... piss-poor balance for me. Stick the Mtn rifle bbl'd action in light fiberglass and it balances right for me (ala Ti).

I agree with this, just add the Little Sky in the group and I'd be happy.

What a person can do with one, you can do with the other.

Betwixt the two it comes down to personal feel desires and some micro mgt.

Pre Little Sky the Ti was the way, for me and for my ways the Ti is good but one seat back.

If buying new I'd go Little Sky, if buying used I'd buy the first one that came along at an attractive price.

Plus if I went Ti I could go Jewell, and you know how I love my Jewells...........grins

But that is just me.

I've seen three deer shot with a 308 and they ran off.

For a flop bang fan that was the deal breaker.

Dey always went flop bang wid a .270.

Just my experience.

Interesting note, I held that Vietnam era Rem re-make this evening and it felt "oh so good" in the hands. You know how you pick up a rifle and it fits. But, it is a .308 and I gotta get my calculator out to shoot it. BLAHHHHHh. Actually I serious.

FINALLY HELD A REM TI TONITE IN 7-08. SWEEEEEEEEEEEEET. MARKUS DOBER, I B LIK'EN IN MO'BETTER THAN LIL' SKY. Just felt better, and that spiral bolt got me also.

Best of luck my friends. My wifffe says all I talk about is rifles, and gearslut camping/hiking/hunting gear. Hell honey-bunny, I'm buying one for you also. Did not work.

So I thought I would buy a darn heavy .308, a ton of ammo, and give her time to comtemplate not hearing my voice for a week.

Too bad a 308 won't even kill a german shepard Louisiana whitetail. Shame.

My .473" Kimber issue,is accuracy, mag constraints and throating. The Ti shines brighter, across that course.

In .532",the Kimber is less any real threat, save NULA.

All of those triggers, adjust easily/nicely and I could happily Hunt those tweaks.....................

I think you can make a case for 308 "efficiency". Take loading manual velocity and divide by grains of powder. It's this ratio that may be important to accuracy averages.

Who doesn't like the fact that the 308's can reach velocities of other cartridges like the 06 with less powder. Who doesn't like the fact that brass is as common as goose droppings on a golf course.

As far as accuracy goes, my limited experience is that the 308 is easy and forgiving to work with. Above and beyond action lenght, it responds very well to accuracy tricks.

Two of the most unexpectedly accurate performances I've seen at my range have been 308's. I've watched as a newbie pulled a brand new custom tactical rifle out of custom case and proceeded to fire clover leaf groups with boring consistency using factory ammo. I have also sat next to Joe average hunter with his Dad's old Savage 99 and K-mart 4X Bushnell do the same thing using donated handloads.

Now, I may like the 7-08 better based on paper ballistics but I've never had one or seen it in action.

Swampman,

I've read all the stories too.

Trigger-time has convinced me the 30-06 is no slouch in the accuracy department.

Never owned a 308, (how did that happen?), but love the 7-08, 260 and 243. (I gotta look for a cool 308).

Anyway, Dude! Your turrets are on the wrong side! Are your adjustments backwards? Fixing that may improve your so - so accuracy a bit. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
