I just had the septic pumped and I'm wondering how to remember that I did it in 2017 so that somewheres around 2022 or so I'll know it's about time to do it again?
Certainly it's not an Urth shaking problem but just something that came to me.
Any thoughts?

Write the date in permanent marker on the lid.

Rocky, the lid is buried 12" deep.
Hanco, I prefer to pump it before it gets to that point thank you very much.

Why have it pumped every 5 years? If they are correctly installed, they should never need to be pumped.

Non-digestible solids will build up in the tank over time. Once they fill the tank, they begin to flow down into the leach field, clogging it up. It had been 14 years since this one had been pumped and it was very much in need of it. You don't want to do it too often, but it does need doing from time to time.

I have a date in about 5 years...its counted down on my calendar daily at work on the wall. 1611 days until I can leave this worthless hell hole that I work in...

Maybe I can recall as I walk out un announced, to remind you. After all I'll have dealt with 5 more years of pure chit around here.... unless I can manage breast implants, then I mihgt get a raise...

I thought about putting it in the phone, but I figure there will be more than one phone upgrade before the reminder happens and lord only knows if the reminder will transfer from phone to phone. Certainly it isn't a big deal if the date gets missed by a couple of years or so.

Step 1: Provoke an argument with your wife
Step2: Work the date that you want to remember into the argument

Result: She will never let you forget it.

How about this: Write the last pump-out date on a 3x5" card and hang that from your kitchen P-trap. Or staple it to the inside of your garage door. Or inside the frame of the window overlooking the tank. Or somewhere else that you find clever, out of the way, and usually undisturbed.

I like that Beoceorl!

I think you're right Rocky, A 3x5 card taped to the inside of the cabinet door under the kitchen sink will probably do the trick. THANKS!

Ours was just pumped May 24th..... I have a trail cam out back for bird pictures by day and critters by night. Now I have pictures, with time and date, of the septic guy dragging the hose by the camera and I downloaded them to the computer. I have six other trail cams out in other locations and occasionally print out some good pix from the SD cards when I'm down at Wal-Mart. I'm gonna print out my septic guy pictures with time & date and put them someplace where I hope they can remain for about 5 years, so I'm covered even if the computer gets wiped out.

If you want an eye opener, keep track of the number of rolls of paper that go into it during the next 5 years. Especially with 2 women in the house. It's amazing that they work as well as they do.

Do you still use an old fashion wall calendar?
I have a few things written on a piece of paper that I keep taped to the month of December.
When I come to December I either write it on the month of the next years calendar if it needs to be done that year or I move the note to December of the new calendar.

Write it on a sheet that contains important things like that and put it on a cupboard door, or something similar. Keep a special note book for things like that. Lots of ways without getting to far out there.
