A friend sent photos of his Buff. I think he said he was south of Kruger on the border of Mozambique. He was shooting a mod70 with a glass stock and aftermarket barrel in 300 H&H. Rick used Swift AFrames. Hit the shoulder and passed through. He said it went about 150 yards and was dead. His PH carried a CZ in 458 Lott as backup.

The boss measured 18" front to rear and a 42" spread.

Yeah buddy.

I'm personally not "into" trophies but that head might have had to follow me home if I had taken it. We had a big old buffalo head on the wall at the University I went to and I touched his nose for luck every time I passed on the way to an exam. I'd consider that one ^^^ even BIGGER luck.

Congrats to your friend,

Geno

Rick has gone over there for years. I think his thoughts are like mine. The camaraderie and friendships are the best part of a hunt. He said he was lucky to be in the right place at the right time.

Awesome buff! Doesn't your friend know that you can't kill a buff with less than a 500 NE??? Speaks volumes to the effectiveness of Swift A-frames.

A-Frames are perfect for buff, especially in a medium caliber cartridge. 300H&H is sufficient in ideal circumstances, as shown here, but not ideal if the buff doesn't know he's dead after the first shot and decides he wants to fight.

A very nice mature bull, hard bosses. Great trophy!

Looks good. A little critical though of the photo angle and lens used.

I guess He should have taken the photo from the tail end. Not much that you can do about a Brownie Hawkeye.

I agree. That is one awesome Cape Buffalo. Those bosses are great.I didn't even know that you could hunt buffalo with anything less than 375 H&H.

Congratulation and nice job.

My Zim buddy uses a 30-06 with Rem Core-Lokt 220gr. Waits for a behind the shoulder shot.(got a 458 Lott in case things turn ugly).
