Hi guys, I need a little advice. I don’t have many opportunities to flyfish in coldwater given where I reside. I’m retired and visiting my daughter who lives in the Castle Pines area. She has not fished or hunted since college and now she’s a new mom without much spare time. I’m coming out July 3-10 and would love to be able to hike up a stream somewhere with her where we stand a chance at catching low-pressured (make that more-forgiving) fish. Species/genus, size, or numbers aren’t important just a stream that’s not difficult to fish WITH a back cast. The last and only time I fished in this area was August 1990 on the middle fork of the South Platte in the Tomahawk Wildlife Area. What I’m seeking is some advice as to where and what flies work there best. If possible I would like to pre-fish a little the day before taking her, mostly to get myself back in to form but also to familiarize myself so to save time when I take her. Not asking for secret spots but I assure you that you won’t be seeing much of me as I get out to Denver only three or four times a year. Please PM me if you have suggestions.

Best wishes,
P-Man

I would check the Colo. Game and Fish web.. My step daughter just moved to Carbondale, Colo. area.. There are a couple famous fly waters near there..
But the Game and Fish has a pretty good web on fishing.. I looked up warm water fishing and found lots of info.. Something you might keep in mind, the runoff here is very high in most of Wyoming.. I don't know about Colo.. But you might want to look into lakes.. Not as cool as wading a stream, but some great fishing can be had there..
