I would drag my balls through a mile of broken glass before I paid them $6000 for that, with all the custom smiths available.. I agree, if I had the coin I'd be on the phone with Jon Beanland and have him build me a clone of this rifle, kinda like the overall specs. But if you do a quick look at the parts its a bunch of money, not $5800 but plenty. I'm not sure of some of the parts but a quick overview: Ti action $1500ish Manners EH stock $700ish Proof barrel $900ish Trigger $150ish Pinned lug $75 Chamber barrel $300ish Pillar bed $250ish Cerakote $250ish Camo paint $150-$250ish Bottom metal $200 Muzzle threaded & muzzle brake $200???? So that gets me to roughly $4600 +/- in parts, suppose if you looked around you could get some stuff cheaper but I think I'm in the ballpark. So not sure how they get to $5800+ unless its the awesomeness of the Kuiu engraved bottom metal  You forgot the tactical bolt knob, presumably titanium...

There are a whole bunch of KUIU cultists that are going to "crush it" with this rifle. And probably many that are upgrading their KUIU uniforms so their ensembles will match their new rifle.  In all sincerity, that's a pretty fine list of components. Alas, the same can be had for less AND without KUIU inscribed on it. I thought the same--nice rifle, but I can get Jim Borden to make maybe a better rifle for less. Or I could use a Pierce Ti receiver if I really wanted to trade $500 for 3 oz of weight. And a quality gunsmith will put on 2 Bartlein / Krieger, etc. barrels for the cost of one Proof barrel + install. I am a Remington fan, and I really like the rifle. I could see some value in it at $4K. AND I'm not against a 6.5 Creedmoor, but I would pick a 7 Rem Mag for the mountains over the Creedmoor. I'm also surprised Kuiu / Dakota / Remington Custom didn't start with a Dakota 76 or 97 action. If I'm really going to be out backpacking, hunting sheep at 10K feet, I want to be able to get ice off the firing pin in the field. And I want an open trigger. But I'm also not a sheep hunter, so maybe that's not as big a consideration as I assume it is.

Why coat a Ti action in Ti color ceracote? you can never rub off the color of natural Ti and the old uncoated Rem Ti were already smooth in operation. Yeah, I'll happily take the Douglas barrel if Melvin is screwing it onto one of his actions and handles.
A Douglas or Shilen if installed in a rifle built by a competent smith won't disappoint too many people. but when spending several thousand on a rifle, the extra cost of a cut-rifling tube is mostly negligible. - does Forbes offer the option of a cut-rifling barrel on request?

You guys just don't understand the value that KUIU brings to the rifle world.  Being a glass-half-full kind of guy, I'm just delighted it doesn't say Bone Collector on it.

i could never afford one of those rifles but remington will easily find one hundred guys to buy them....not to mention the marketing they will get out of advertising this project and showcasing what they can do in their custom shop.....the guys paying tens of thousands of dollars buying sheep hunts wont blink and eye at a $5000.00 dollar rifle

Not entirely overpriced for the parts going into it compared to a Proof Summit or other carbon barreled titanium rifles.
The Rem Ti will most likely hold it's value better also. Just look how much the older Rem Ti's sell for.

It seems to me that Remington is addressing some of the complaints of the 700 design with this rifle - pinned bolt handle, so it doesn't break off, M-16 style extractor, dual ejectors, Timney trigger.
From the Remington website.

Not sure that I would have much faith in a company that promotes a rifle but doesn't proof read their advertising. duel ejectors - WTF are the ejectors going to fight it out between themselves, it should be dual ejectors.

I have two Sheep rifles. The first is a 7mm Wby UL Mk V weighing 8.2 lbs all up.
The second is a Borden 280 AI weighing less than 7 lbs.
Both get equal call to duty.

Co-founded Sitka Gear and now has Kuiu. I'll take a Kimber Montana for 1300 any day. That said, I have some Kuiu clothing and it's very good.
I probably hit more elk with a pickup than you have with a rifle. I have yet to see anyone claim Leupold has never had to fix an optic. I know I have sent a few back. 2 MK 6s, a VX-6, and 3 VX-111s.
