Sounds like a tractor. That dog could smell a dropped piece of candy a mile away. I would train it ttrack something. Great dog though..

Also, looks like I might get my first dog, once our new house is built.
Should start reading up about different breeds. Don't bother. Lab. assuming you are enrgenic for their first 6 years- then they mellow a bit.... Likely true for any dog, but Labs are in a class of their own, I think. Deal with the hair... Spent the last two days gill-net fishing at a local beach. fishing was slow, but the beach dogs (mostly Labs/mixes), were friendly. and enthusiastic, but then I'm a sucker.. which they recognize instantly. Quote from "Training your Retriever" by James Lamb Free. A drunken guy at the bar at field trials slurs: "They are just too good for common people" My first Lab ate the binding off the book.... as well as a couple other expensive ones... I've had Labs and Lab mixes for over 40 years now, anyway , "common" as I may be. Presently deprived.

Blood Hounds are amazing animals. Yes they stink, and will follow a slug trail in front of a train, but amazing animals none the less. Dave...she's gonna have wanderlust. Don't EVERY think she's "over it".
