http://ruger.com/products/americanRimfireTarget/models.html

The above link is to a Ruger & Company page showing the Rifle I got to fire/range test for the second time today.
My rich friend has me sight in his Rifles and I oblige him virtually always.
He bought one of these Ruger American Rimfire target Rifles a month and a half ago and mounted a scope on it.
The Rifle is in 17 HMR caliber and of a configuration that I really fell for.
It has a heavy stiff 18" barrel and an adjustable "Accu-Trigger" type trigger.
The Rifle is pleasingly heavy and the stock fits me quite well.
My friend swapped out scopes so I got to "sight it in" again today.
The Rifle shoots VERY well with the Hornady 17 grain V-Max style bullets.
Today I shoot two groups (5 shots at 50 yards) with a constant 8 to 12 M.P.H. "tail-wind" (wind directly at my back).
Both groups were just under .400".
I am saving my money for one of these Rifles - I think I will stick with the 17 HMR caliber - it also comes in 22 Magnum and 22 L.R.
Hope the link works and you get to view this new offering from Sturm Ruger & Company.

VG,

Thats good news to hear.. I have been wondering about how the Ruger 17HMR barrels have been lately .

I bought a standard American sporter 22"bl with sights in 22LR last fall. With the except of a sligth hangup on thr front magazine catch for the first 100 rounds or so, the gun has functioned flawlessly.

The trigger is superb. You can leave it be for the ultimate in safety or go old school like I did and remove the trigger blade and spring.I also replaced the factory trigger return spring with an identical length peice of BIC ball point pen spring. It is adjusted to a safe crisp 2.5 LB pull and is a joy to shoot.

In terms of accuracy, with SK Jagd Standard + it runs right along side my CZ 452 American in 22LR and even a few 10lb+ bull guns shooting the same ammo during the same range session.

The best $245 I have spent on a rifle in a while- even with the synthetic stock.

I am going to buy its twin in 17 HMR soon:)

VG,

They now have the same rifle (threaded heavy barrel) in stainless.

The stainless version has a plastic stock though.

Jerrywoodwalker: I did not know that option was available.
I would prefer stainless but I do so like the laminated stock?
In a quandary now.
Funny thing my local gunshop just got in three more of these Ruger American Target Rimfires - one in 22 L.R., one in 22 Magnum and one in 17 HMR.
They are all different prices - one is $397.00, one is $398.00 and the other is $399.00?
I don't know why and I have forgotten which is which priced.
I will have one of these in 17 HMR by next spring - now to figure out which scope to put on it.
Thanks for the info.
