Just wondering if anyone has heard any rumors. Think we'll have to wait a long time? Not into the FTW version they have right now.

I was surprised to see them drop it and have a hunch they'll crank out some more before too long.

If there's a demand, or a jobber wants to commit to a certain number, you'll see them again. At the time they were discontinued, various outlets had scads for sale at big discounts. No sense in cranking out loss-leaders for CDNN, when they could be making RARs at a profit.
Like Number Ones, they'll be back. In the meantime, look on GB.

dgr416 - "The Ruger 77 is the pre64 Winchester of our time ! " How true this is. RAR's are OK but you can't beat the 77's. Homesteader

I wish they would bring them back without the integral ring system. I love the 2.900" mag box, but hate you can't use a 20moa rail. Someone made one, but its junk since it adds about a foot of height...

That would be a shame. If nothing else the 77 is an honest, solid rifle at a price the average guy can swing, and often discounted to a ridiculous point. Fortunately there are gazillions of them out there. Perhaps they'll become limited-production models like the single-shots. I'm pretty much at the rifle saturation point for someone my age, and in fact sent one off (FN) on consignment this morning to simplify things a bit, but one of the ones I'm keeping is a SS Hawkeye Predator .308, one of their best, I think, all things considered.

Wow...that news sucks. I have a few, but certainly want more. I found a wood stocked Hawkeye at the LGS last week in the Lightweight. Disappointed to see it was a 243 Win. Don't have anything against the chambering, just that I already have a flat bolt in it and my wife and I both have 6mm Rem. so I think it would have been overkill somewhat. All I can do is keep looking!

I think that the Ruger 77 is about as close to being perfect as is possible in a hunting rifle that doesn't cost $2,500 over the counter IF you get one that shoots.
I have absolutely no use for the RAR. Zero.

If Montana had a standing army, a 270 Win with Federal Blue Box 130's would be the standard issue.

I don't want the Hawkeye stainless. I hated that "sprayed on" looking finish. Give me instead the stainless 77 Mk II with the real looking brushed (and somewhat shiny) finish. But my how times have changed! It doesn't seem to have been that many years since mostly everyone was opining the wood and blued steel models......

I don't care for the Hawkeye stainless, but I really like the Stainless M77 Mk II. That's what they need to bring back IMO.

I heard a month or so ago that they were working on a laminated stock option for the Ruger American, I'm not sure how much of an improvement that would be, I've never handles a RA rifle.
