The use of bipods is just about socially mandatory for deer hunting in Scotland: they provide a steady rest for prone shooting and raise you above the heather and grass tussocks / clumps. However, they are quite heavy and can be quite bulky.
I have Harris bipods in the 9-13 inch leg length range. I like them a lot but they are rather heavy and are quite bulky, even when using a target rifle scaled rifle cover / slip. Does anyone have experience and recommendations for other, more compact, lighter weight bipods?
I like the simplicity and neatness of the connection method with the Harris system. I have seen the Javelin UK system on the web. It is expensive but light weight, particularly the 6 - 9 inch range one, which is too short for my needs. Additionally, to me, I am not so enamoured with the fixing system. It looks more bulky, adding depth and is not as neat and tidy as the Harris systems. At least to my tastes.
Cheers!

An unemployed Jester, is nobody's Fool.
the only real difference between a good tracker and a bad tracker, is observation. all the same data is present for both. The rest, is understanding what you're seeing.

http://www.steinertsensingsystems.com/product-details/neopod-ultralight-hunting-bipod/"made from carbon fibre reinforced PEEK polymer. This material has a tensile strength equal to that of stainless steel – with only half the weight of aluminium..... the bipod itself weighs only 82g (2.9oz). The various adapters weigh from to 7 to 31g."

Thank you for the feedback.
Wow, the Norwegian Steiner system costs circa £425. This is comparable to the Javelin Spartan 300 system which is £440. Both these systems fold up under the stock and have the provision of attaching a rifle sling to the bipod adaptor / fixing. I like and need this capability. The good old Harris bipod has this too.
The Snipepod is light and significantly cheaper. However, from the website, it does not look like it is possible attach a sling to the adaptor / fixing.

Thank you all for your replies / inputs.
I am still unclear whether the Snipe Pod bipods enable a rifle to have a rifle sling attached to the bipod in some way at the same time as the bipod is attached to the rifle.
Watching the videos, it seems to me it is either /or with the Snipe Pod bipods. The bipod attaches to the front sling swivel stud when the quick detachable rifle sling is removed.
Could someone using this system confirm this please? All of the mentioned bipods are lighter than my current Harris bipod at 14oz.

I confirmed this in a previous post. I've owned and used the SnipePod V1 for several years, but for those that rely on the innernet for this info, I spent a few seconds searching SnipePod on Google, and this was in the first few pictures...

Thank you. Now I see and understand. A picture / method statement cartoons are worth a lot - ease comprehension.
