Guys, I've had a couple USRAC 375 H&H's and a 416 Rem, but for the life of me I can't remember what they mic at the muzzle (24")... can anyone provide that info?
Thanks.

Mine measures .712--pretty heavy. On the other hand, recoil is pretty manageable.

DF ^^^ This, recently picked one up from the classifieds with this treatment but 22" and it balances beautifully in a Micky supergrade that I believe is standard fill. I previously owned a classic stainless 24" in the same stock and it felt too muzzle heavy and I normally like a little weight out front, it was too much.

DF I'd sooner rebarrel as I'm not much of a fluting fan, but I do like your 21" idea. One of my 375's I cut to 22" and remounted the front sight. Felt better shorter, but too stout a tube regardless. I'd like around .650 at 22".

I like the factory diameter on my 416. Mine resides in a McM Express stock and balances/points very well. My SS 375 has been been cut to 21 1/2", deeply fluted and bedded in a Pound'r and it is about perfection. All work by a previous owner. I should probably sell the 416 given the 375 but I have been set on using it on buffalo which I will do coming fall.
Conduct is the best proof of character.

Beautiful craftsmanship. DF

USRAC, New Haven Classic .375 H&H. Those barrels were way too heavy, IMO. The .458 Win and .417 Rem had the same contour as the .375 H&H. And, of the three, the .375 barrel was heavier than the other two, less steel removed from the bore. I was pretty disgusted with how mine handled. After flutes and a chop job, it handles great. Shoots good, I like it. DF

DF, is that a NECG Masterpiece sight? If so, how do you like it? What size did you order?

DF, is that a NECG Masterpiece sight? If so, how do you like it? What size did you order? Tom, The Masterpiece is a banded front, this is the Universal ramp with fiber optic bead/windowed hood. IIRC, the fiberoptic bead comes in one std. size, could be wrong. I like them. The rear is the Classic Adjustable. Again, trying to remember, seems Winchester supplied this rear sight on some of their safari type guns. I find myself depending more on scopes than irons these days. This Victory 1.5-6x42 T* is a really great scope for this application. It's bigger and heavier than the usual Leupold 1.5-5x20, but the brightness and low light performance is awesome. The gun, as shown, is a hair over 9 #'s, which is about right, IMO. With a 1.5-5x20, it would be less than 9 #'s, in the high 8 # range. I think there's around a 6 oz difference between those two scopes. DF

Thanks DF, the stock rear sight that came on the classic stainless was a fold down type, not my favorite. My 375 currently doesnt wear a rear, I think Im going to get the NECG rear sight that uses the same 6-48 screw.
My previous 375 had a leupold 1.75-6 which I liked much better than the much more common 1.5-5. I am thinking about trying one of the Nikon Safari scopes when it comes time to glassing my current one.

I now remember, that one ended up on a .404J build, the NECG on this one. The fold down worked well on the .404J; it had an NECG peep. Otherwise, I like this one better. I slept a few times since then... Here's a better view of the fiberoptic front sight, Universal ramp, windowed hood. The 1.75-6 is a great scope, have one on another rifle. Have heard good reports on the Nikon Safari, never handled one. Let us know how you like it. DF

Top photo is the NECG Masterpiece banded front on an AHR 9.3x62 with NECG one leaf Express/island base. Bottom is the previously mentioned .404J build, Walther barrel, Universal ramp, Win OEM folding rear (because of NECG peep, not shown), the .404J in an Echols Legend. DF

Fine taste in rifles. One med/large bore is enough for me. Im still on the fence about replacing the front, pretty sure Im going with the NECG rear, Im one of the few that shhots a good rear ramp better than a peep (what mine currently wears).
How do you like the talley QD's?

Ive tried the warne and a few others (possibly burris, maybe talley, cant recall exactly). I like a good set of irons even on 06 size rifles, so like the idea of QD rings....until I carry the rifle around a bit hunting, dont like the way the levers stick out.
Use to use Burris fixed zee rings as they attached with a slotted screw and I usually have a leatherman in my pack when hunting outside the back forty. I can probably get the zee rings off with a leatherman as fast as the QD's Ive tried. Not sure which route I will take on my current 375.
