I have to travel to San Antonio in September so will make the most of it.
If somebody can recommend a good place I'd appreciate it. Will have my own gun and ammo. Just need to schedule and pay the day fees. Looks like they average $150 or so now?
I have no problem driving 100 miles or so in any direction.

Be sure to look on the barrel of the shotgun, so you can buy the right size shotgun shells. For example, 20 guage won't work in a 12 guage

Travis, never hunted doves in Tx.. But hunted exotics quite a bit with an outfit called Mt. Home Hunting Services.. It has since sold and under new management.. I am looking at a hunt there this spring.. Not sure if it would help, but you might give them a call.. If they don't have dove hunts, I would guess they could connect you with someone who does..

BP... Hondo would be about perfect. Thanks, Travis Hondo is what I was thinking as well. See quite a few day hunt advertisement signs up in the area. I think all the white-wings in the San Antonio area strap on their oxygen masks in the morning and make the flight to the Hondo area and hit the corn fields. Have seen some impressive swarms of white-wings working the fields.

Dove hunting on a paid group hunt in Texas will be much of what you hate about Texas and some of what there is to love about it. On a private place with your best buddies around a pond is about as good as it gets. Check out the Nooner Ranch.
