Need to put front brakes on my 1994 Chevy Silverado 1500 4wd. No severe use, no towing.

Ceramic pads vs. semi-metallic pads. Which ones and why?

What else to look for in brake replacements?

If you want a recommendation, in my personal experience I've found Hawk LTS brake pads to be the best overall performer for me.

Not a Silverado but I recently converted the rear drums to discs on my '96 Cherokee XJ. Used all Centric Ceramic Premium parts front and back. I can recommend them.

Had ceramics and when they wore out went with a pair of high quality semi metallics on my Sierra. A move I'd still do to this day.

Might as well go with drilled and slotted rotors, then use ceramics... I've done that with my wifes 99 suburban and my 04 gmc sierra 1500 4x4. No complaints so far... However, if just using plain jane rotors, I'd opt for semi metallic...
