Well it is something that pops up in your mind. Nothing I ever think of, unless watching some 80s comedy.

Muskeg Man, We could argue over caliber and weight of bullet and on and on, so I will simply say' 7mm/08.. Good bullet = 139gr Partitation, Interlock, SST, Ballistic Tip, Accubond, Ballistic Silver Tip Good powder = Varget, RL15, IMR 4320 all are middle of the road burn rate. If your not going to reload, Hornady 139 gr, Interlock, SST, Accubond shoot well in my Kimber Montana 7mm/08. Also you can take your time, and make a Kimber trigger almost as good, or as good as a Timney. Be sure to slam bolt home hard several times, and bounce on the floor several times. (Safety First) I put my wife's finger nail polish on weight of pull screw. Good hunting and consider the 7mm/08 there is a large variety of bullet weights to choose from.

But I can guarantee you...there is no way in hell the 45-70 kills more deer annually than the .223. Maybe at one time, but not anymore.

Started with a light load yesterday. 350 grains 1600s, and I think you ladies could shoot it all day. Fill seems like a 30-06. Not some boogey man.

Reading loads in couple of manuals, and they talk about the renaissance the 45-70 has had. A few threads on here about 1895. I am sure people use 223, but in my part of the country, I don't know a single person below 6mm, and # of people using 45-70.

38 grains of Reloader 7, should be managable by you guys, if not you drop down 33. Starting load for antique trapdoor rifles.

So show me a deer you've shot or anyone you know, that was shot with a 45/70.

Ready, set, Google.

Ahh, you don't think people are hunting deer with a 45-70????

What do you want phone numbers of people I know??

As for google, no [bleep]. Google 45-70 deer. Will not see one thread is 45-70 big enough for deer.

You got nothing, except Chuckhawks.

There are a bunch splats on the ram from 45/70 Sharps, aperture sights at 400 yards. Mild load of 5744. It ain't a googled image.

Depends on the shooter. 223 will be more effected by windage than 300 grain bullet. That is the problem with such light bullets. Looking at the target, one would assume the non painted dings are from the last shooter.

But I am not hunting in some field.

People hunt in different locations. This seems hard to fathom for some.

But the 45-70 with black powder slaughered all kinds of buffalo at long ranges. They were shooting it at a mile.

Whats on your website?

I don't believe you are as dumb as you pretend. 45-70 has is a common deer round. I didn't bother putting up other articles, there are many, cause you would just say somethign similar, pretending it doesn't exist.

Not sure why you choose to troll this subject. Seems an odd hill to die on.

Wind drift is determined by velocity and ballistic coefficient, not weight.
