Hey folks, was out shooting yesterday and my model 100 308 doubled on me. I promptly unloaded it and put it away. I know this gun had the recall preformed back in the early 90s. My dad still has the paperwork. What do yall think?

This was my first rifle as a kid. A couple yeas back I stripped her down and refinished her for a new lease on life. Puts factory 150 grain power points in nearly 1 inch at 100.If the shooter can over come the 10 pound trigger the is gritty as a gravel road.

Sounds like it needs a cleaning real bad.

It would be fun if one could tell when it was going to happen.

Stuff in the trigger works as well as the firing pin hole.

have seen a few on some older 22 Winchester rifles but the same thing applies.

They get dirty sometimes and it don't cost much to flush out the works.

A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.

The original pamphlet that came with my then brand new model 100 had a warning in there about this problem. \\\it is unique in that it warns the shooter to ensure he has a firm grip on the rifle, the trigger hand. What happens is the recoil from the first round caused the rifle to bump the trigger finger and cause the second round to fire,I know, it happened to me. There is nothing wrong with the rifle.

There was a recall on Model 100s that covered issues with the firing pin. Have yours checked.

https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/winchester-model-100-308-safety-question.436987/

The recall was issued in 1990 and Winchester has since gone under and been resurrected, so I don't know the current status of the recall.

They kind of remind me of the SKS rifle when a piece of material gets in the firing pin hole and it touches off several rounds at once or maybe all 10 rounds.
