If you could choose the features in a new Rimfire scope what would you like to see, choose a price point too? I have chatted with a lot of guy's who like Nikon's PROSTAFF 3-9 Target EFR scope and would like to see it in 4-12, what other suggestion's do you have?

I think that the Weaver V16 is a great 17HM2 and 17HMR scope, but may be too large, physically overwhelming, on a rifle with a sporter/light contour barrel. It have a Leupold 3-9x33 EFR on my Miroku 52 Sporter and like the feng shui it brings to the package.
For me, an AO is a must option on a serious rimfire scope.

Bman940: I would demand an adjustable objective, Du-Plex reticle, at least 16 power on the top end of the variable power and at least 1/4" adjustments at 100 yards (1/8" would be better) for all around useages. If for Ground Squirrels exclusively then swap out the Du-Plex reticle for a fine crosshair with fine dot reticle. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

I like a 4-12 or so with a small front bell. I agree that'S is. Must especially side focus. A good forgiving eyebox and a simple pled reticle with 2 0r 3 hash marks is handy. Good clear glass is a must. Finger adj and re-settable knobs are a real plus. For hunting a good straight 6 is very nice.
But if I were to spec a top notch all around scope it would be a 4.5-14 or 4-16 with a front bell between 36 and 42. All the handy options I listed above, and really good glass. Of be willing to pay 300 or more for that.

Excellent suggestion's. The 1/8 inch click at 100 yards seems to be what a lot of guys want or would you wather see 1/8 at 50 yards and 1/4 at 100 like most MOA scopes? This is what the Target EFR looks like. 40mm obj with parallax adjust emnt from 10 yards to infinity. Fine crosshair but not so fine it gets lost on a black background. How about MOA/MRAD reticle like Nikon's new BLACK X1000 scope? Thanks guy's keep em coming. http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd363/bman940/PROSTAFF%20Rimfire/efr10221.jpg

A pro staff with one of the new Black reticles would be a winner. I've been looking at a lot of scopes and I'm finding a lack of wind hash marks

The Prostaff's adjustments are too large. I can shoot closer than 1/4 at 50 yards.
I want a good low end of 3X and about a 15X on top with a 10 yard focus and precise target knobs of at least 1/4 moa adjustment

Small, lightweight, exceptional glass, repeatable adjustments and under $100.

Rebirth of the El Paso Weaver K2.5 parallax zeroed at 50-75 yards, 1/4 MOA duplex reticle and adjustment.
I am..........disturbed.

I use my 22 rifles for hunting. Over 9X is useless for me due to tiny field of view. I shoot Richardson's Ground Squirrels @ up to/over 200 yards. I use an older Sightron II with very fine duplex crosshairs.
If I replaced my scope, it would be with the 3x9 Leupold EFR rimfire, BUT, practically speaking, the adj objective is of little value (to me). I've hunted Prairie Dogs with various adj ob. scopes on various center fire rifles for decades (still do). For fast action, they are more trouble than they are worth. Most dudes that come out here on PD hunts soon leave their adj ob scopes set at one distance and call it good. So do I.

the features I want is a 20mil per rev unlimited elevation turret with a second focal plane illuminated reticle with 1/2 mil hashes that automatically change correctly to match the 6-60 power ratio with built-in auto paralax and auto expanding objective bell so's the FOV never changes. Oh, and some high-tech automatic weatherproof lens covers that open by reading your mind.......

Bart, all the prostaff's look tacky. Sorry, but what the hell was wrong with the old Monarch UCC? Give me one of those and I'd be happy as hell. Here's one to look at and wonder why the prostaff looks like garbage..:
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA
