text messagd a friend of mine who i worked with for many years. born and raised in arizona, but for some reason decided to move to sarasota, florida. relocated there a couple of months ago. He said yesterday they were going to ride it out, although they had plenty of ability to leave, to experience the event. He was in a evac zone B if it went to A they would go to a shelter.

Weathermen hyping the forecast has been going on for decades. 30 years ago ? A well known Cincinnati weatherman eventually stepped down after it came out that he was intentionally hyping expected snow fall totals, recommending that people only drive in four wheel drive vehicles, and later came out that he had a financial interest in a local Jeep dealer...

Two or three years ago, I sent a scathing email to local television station with regard to the way one of their "meteorologists" had obviously over-hyped the POTENTIAL for tornadoes during a rain event. Good "theater". But totally inappropriate and unwarranted. Received a response back a couple days later defending the meteorologist and claiming (paraphrased) that in essence it was their God given responsibility to warn all of their viewers of potential hazards...

Television runs on viewership. Drama draws viewers. Regardless if it is factual or fabricated...

Rush was correct in the weather hype. He didn't say the storm wasn't dangerous, but that people must evaluate what is being said. The local hyple the weather here all the time to get you to stay tuned. Considering the millions of dollars of equipment they have, they are still wrong quite often on weather events.

Typical inane comment from this moron. According to FCC regulations Rush could not broadcast his show from Florida. So he left to arrange subsequent shows next week. Now that the hurricane will hit the west coast, he may be back sooner.

I listened to all of Rush that day. He's right for the most part, except that he seems to have forgotten that not every non-liberal has a private jet on standby. I guess that's the .02%'

The media accused Rush of telling people to not buy bottled water. Which is complete BS. I listened to that whole segment. He said "fill up empty water bottles, milk jugs, your bathtub," etc. As in, "you have an endless supply of fresh drinking water: your tap- so fill up everything now." If you spell Evian backwards it's 'niave.' And it's $2/bottle or more with gouging.

It's going to be really expensive to flush a toilet @ $2/bottle of water.
