I see that Federal is listing a 160 grain 7mm Mauser load with a claimed 2900 fps muzzle velocity and 1500 fpe out to 500 yards. This is the hottest loads I have ever seen advertised for the 7x57 ammunition. I did see on one ammo site where the cost is estimated at $1.91 to $1.94 per round which would be approx. $38.50 per box of 20. This is considerably cheaper than I have seen the Nosler Trophy Ammo 140 grain partition advertised. I haven't found any reviews on this ammo and was just wondering if anyone has seen this ammo, used this ammo, or tested this ammo? Also haven't seen a retailer offering this ammo, so where do we get it?

If safe, it would be an excellent choice for modern 7x57 rifle users as a big game round (including elk) and a perfect all purpose round for the 7x57.

Sounds HOT if I wanted to use it in m M77R I'd try it. No way in my M1893 Spanish Mauser. Sounds like a typo cause that's 7 mm Rem Mag velocities. MB

I concur! In fact if you look at the Federal Premium Nosler Accubond ammo loads they show a 7mm Magnum load with the 160 grain at 3000 fps muzzle velocity ---- just 100 fps more than the 7mm Mauser load. I would try it in my Ruger 77 MII 7x57; but would be real nervous about using it in my 1930s era Peruvian Model 98 Mauser in 7x57. I need to know more and read some reviews from someone that has used the ammo.

That's maybe a misprint? I only got 2,900 with RL17 in the 7mm RSAUM, and it has basically the same capacity as the 280 Ackley, which is a good big more capacity than the 7x57.

Geez, what is that coming out of? A 26" test barrel?

I'm with JPro, I get 2,850 out of a 160 in my 7 SAUM. I'm honestly wondering if Federal meant 2,600?

Anyone that believes in an Accubomb is gullible enough to buy into this!!!

I seriously question 2900 with 160 out of a 7X57------ the 7 mm R Mag will do 3000-3100 fps with 24" bll.

I agree. The picture of the box shows 7RM, but that's obviously no assurance. It's gotta be a mistake.

I sent an email to Federal concerning this issue on the same date as my original post. I got a response that, "they would have someone look in to this information." That is the extent of the responses from Federal to date. I noted that the info remains unchanged.

If I don't hear more from Federal next week; I will call them and request to talk to their ballistics department.

interested to hear what they say. That would be moving for a 7X57. Would be awesome if true. Can't see how though.

I phoned Federal today about the Federal Premium 160 grain Nosler Accubond at 2900 fps listing and the representative said, "We have a screw up on our web site." He didn't provide any more detail other than that! So 7x57 lovers, the dream load isn't sold commercially yet in the USA manufacturers ammunition.
