I've been changing the oil in my truck from 5K to 7K miles. What are you guys doing? I stopped changing it every 3K miles years ago.

I use synthetic and change it every 10-12K. I also use the appropriate filter for longer periods in between changes.

I always use Mobil 1 and always aim to change it at approximately 6,000 miles.
When I rotate tires, I change the oil. Every other oil change and rotate, I change the air filter.
6,000 mile increments are easy to remember when you get old.

I tow a lot on my 04 5.3 Silverado, dont drive it in the winter only put on 2K or so but change my Synthetic in the fall, once a year.
Like my 4 Stroke outboards dont want used oil sitting in engine all winter. Oil is cheap insurance!

5K per Owner's Manuel, not Dealership recommendation.........trying to decide if Trans service is necessary or Dealer BS currently. 55K miles on 2013 Nissan Frontier.

I change my oil every 3-5k miles but I only change my oil filter every other oil change.
I saw a commercial with some nascar guy saying using his oil you only need to change it once a year. I'm not sure I'll ever come around to that.

Squirrelnut: My VarmintMobile (1996 Dodge diesel Cummins with 5 speed manual transmission and 125,000 total miles now) gets its oil changed (with top quality oil!) every 5,000 miles. I am the original owner and (knock on wood!) I have not had one hint of a problem with it to date. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

My company did service on our F350 Diesels every 5k miles, I put 245k on my last one and it was still running great when I retired and turned it in,, I had several previous to that and the only engine problem I ever had was a blown head gasket. I use the same interval on my '06 Cummins Dodge and it's doing fine

About every 5-6000 miles. And I use Mobil 1. Oil does not wear out, it gets dirty. If your oil isn't clear, it's time to change it.
When I growing up in West Texas, Dad changed it every 1000 miles, but that was a dusty climate.

Every 7500 on my Cummins using Rotella 15W40 non synthetic. Every 5-6k in my BMW's using Motul 5W40 synthetic. Once a year in my Honda Pioneer using Mobil 1.

When I growing up in West Texas, Dad changed it every 1000 miles, but that was a dusty climate. You must not drive a diesel. You'd be changing your oil every 200 miles if you went by the motto if it isn't clear you must change it.

New truck calls for full synthetic at 8000. I did it a little early on the first change.
