Does anyone know what years these were made? I have a 50 in .30-'06 and enjoy it quite a bit. The accuracy isn't phenomenal, but good enough.

Very nice looking Husky/Higgins. Love those Husqvarna's. What caliber is your 51-L?

If offered a choice between HVA and FN, think I'd go HVA.
And, I really like my FN.

I built a JC Higgins for a guy in 270.. Used the thinnest barrel we could get for weight....it was light.....shot tinny little bug holes..

The 45 and 46 bases may be right some or most of the time. I have had two (one at the moment) that have a screw spacing on the bridge that is larger as on some M70s or .860". Talley 2 pc and Warne (M902/831M) make bases to mate with these receivers. Both Talley and Warne Maxima are steel and heavier but fit. My smith adapted some Weavers for the earlier M50 I had while a couple others used standard FN mounts. Why the difference, I don't know but that has been my experience.

I think the change was because Sears was selling proprietary bases and rings hoping to eek out some extra $$$. I've had them with both types of hole spacing. Sadly, it is all too common to find the Model 50's with a third hole drilled in the rear bridge so that standard FN bases can be used. FYI, Talley also makes Model 50 specific bases.

Standard FN on the one pictured. It has a old redfield base with the built in peep sight.

Everyone should have at least one FN to remind them of what a rifle looks like. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This is the anti-plastika . Some evil person is selling a Sako Hipower in the classifieds, built along the same lines.

Comment by "z" may be correct. My current Higgins(50) had a JC Higgins scope made by Weaver in Kesselring base and rings. Bridge was d&t for .860" base. Mine wears a 7X57 Brux tube now but original stock. Nice rifles Blairvt.

I kept a 1948 C-ring .270, however.😁
What fresh Hell is this?
