I only a single 15 pack and these are 300 grain. One thing that I will say is that the 300gr version is a longer bullet and has more bearing surface, which alone makes it load snugger than a 250gr Thor of the same size.

One concern, will we lose some FPS due to the design?

Thor Bullets: One size fits all!


Taking a closer look at the bullet on the Right, this is the all new One size fits all Thor. How do they do that? This bullet is .503" diameter, but have 4 cuts, very thin, that run almost to the base of the bullet. The purpose is to allow the concave base of the bullet, to slightly crush inward as you push the bullet down the bore.

We are basically sizing the Thor to OUR bore size, as we load! Bullet on the left is a standard Thor.



With a standard 300gr Thor and 100gr Blackhorn209, I've clocked these bullets at 1,826 FPS. Will the New one size fits all Thor do the same, or will we lose some Velocity? I personally do not think we'll lose much at all, if any FPS due to the fact that the base that flares up the most upon ignition, is still whole, and will fatten up and seat the bore. We will take a look-see however!

I did check a couple of my Traditions Sidelocks and believe it or not, I was able to start the bullet by hand before pulling it out as I do not intend to shoot them out of those rifles just yet.

No word on when they will be 100% available or if they will offer them in the 250 grain version, but at least we have something to look forward to and simplify sizing them from now on.

An interesting solution. I wonder how the "skirt" holds up once it leaves the bore, and if the splits will allow it to flare out and if that would affect accuracy.

That's a dang good question. Hopefully, they tested them and it wasn't a problem.

So you you have a Power Belt, redesigned with a metal skirt? For more money?

The Thor's are a fair bit more than a Power-Belt.

Mono metal, all Copper, hollow point with a copper skirt that doesn't come off.

"One size fits all" would help with the availability issues of selling out of some sizes right before season.

If the new split-skirt holds up and doesn't deform when fired they'll sell a ton of them!

I never bought into the fitting a special bullet diameter to my rifle and one sure doesn't need solid copper bullet for 1500 fps velocities, even 2000 fps.

I have killed enough elk with lead round balls , maxiballs, and now Powerbelts to figure that out

+1 I'm skeptical, I don't think the skirt will hold up.

For the sake of science and progress, I ordered some of both and I'll let you know what I find.

Archery season first so it may be a bit before I get them and can report back.

Zero reloading issues, accuracy was good for the light 90gr charge. Next time I am going to test with 100gr BH209 as that always seems to be the sweet spot.

The scope however pooped. We had issues with it before but I wasnt shooting. It handles the 250gr thors without issue, but with the 300s, shes doing exactly what it did on my brother in laws gun, groups in 2 different places after each shot. I'll see what I have in storage.

I recovered 2 bullets and found the bases expanded where the slits are made. This however, was most likely due to impact of dry sand. I will use a controlled media next time to see what the story is on the base.

There is however plenty of meat at the base for it to seal the bore IMO. We'll find out once I run it over the chronograph and how the control media test goes.

Is that what you shot on the video? I only saw 4 rounds and I'm not sure how you can comment on accuracy with 4 rounds downrange using a damaged scope?

oh you'll see the accuracy once I upload yesterdays group. 100gr blackhorn209 and that 300gr thor is down right centerfire accuracy accurate.

Okay, Now the rifle was sighted in 1/2" high at 50 yards with the 250 grain Thors. I shot One 250gr Thor at 100 yards to make sure I was on sight. This hit nearest the bulls eye.

Knowing that the 300's shoot lower, I upped it 8 clicks and proceeded to shoot 3 shots from 100 yards with the 300gr one size fits all thor, with 100 grains blackhorn209.

After those shots, I loaded up another 250gr Thor and took one more shot that hit level with the first shot, but now 2" high due to the scope adjustment.

Set up from a distance of 20 feet, the 100gr charge of BH209 and the 300gr one size fits all thor registered an average velocity of 1,801 FPS in my 24" barrel. Avg spread of 16 FPS.

This will be interesting to try next season. For this season I'm shooting the Hornady FPB 350gr with 90 grains of BH209. A similar designed bullet as the old thor with the exception of having a lead core. It's too close to season to consider any changes.

Will this "one size fits all" do well in my 54s?

I wonder if these will work in a savage smokeless ML? It takes good seating pressure to get proper ignition of the smokeless powder.

I've had good luck with Thor bullets in a NULA smokeless.
