Although the 30-06 Rem 700 would likely be more practical. it's been a while since I took any game with this good ol' Number One in 375 H&H: The 3x Leupold is zeroed at 200 yards with 270 gr Hornady round-nose bullets. I'd think that should prove sufficient. Guy

Probably Kimber 300WSM, maybe Kimber 3006. The 300WSM is grouping nice but has yet to kill anything. Think its time.

Love it. Mine is an older scope with the duplex reticle. I'm a sucker for these smaller Leupold scopes, fixed or variable. They've never let me down. I feel like with this super-simple scope, simple single-shot rifle and a classic cartridge, I'm well served. Have been pleased with how well the smaller scope has worked out both up close and out to 200 & 300 yards. Guy

Thank you for the feedback. I was pretty well sold, and the more people I speak with having experience with a 3x, the closer I get to pulling the trigger. Leupold was back-ordered on #4 reticles and offered to upgrade free of charge. I might have to do it.

SFC B: That Rifle in 30/06 with that bullet certainly ought to do the trick for you. Good luck this season and chime in more often. I have not owned a Vortex scope as yet but have shot Varmints through a couple my friends own. They are sure happy with them. Again good luck. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

Guy M: That is certainly a handsome Rifle! Good luck this season. I used to Hunt Coyotes a lot down in SE Washington state - is that picture taken somewhere there in Paloose Country? I had a lot of good times there. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

Photo taken at the North Central Washington Gun Club, East Wenatchee, Washington.
Been a happy member there for 20+ years. It's evolving into a real good facility, with a 600 yard rifle range, trap shooting, pistol shooting, Cowboy Action Shooting, and archery.

My many years dependable friend, Remington 725 .280 Remington, 3x9 Nikon Monarch 'scope, 160 grains Nosler Partition in front of 54 grains of IMR 4350.
Cool.

Pre 64 30-06 fwt with 200 gr partitions, 2.5x8 Leupold, anticipating close up this season...

I just killed this year's elk with my Sauer 202 Stutzen carbine, .308 Win. and 180 grain Nosler partition handloads. Broadside shot, high in ribs behind the shoulder at about 120 yards. Predictable results.

Pre 64 30-06 fwt with 200 gr partitions, 2.5x8 Leupold, anticipating close up this season... Those are some serious bullets! I am impressed by their performance near and far. Shooting 300 yards isn't really a problem with them either, if ya must. Guy

Good to hear, expect a close shot in the blow-downs, or maybe up to 200 yards max in the small meadows where I'll be at.
Too close for irons, switching to scope...
