Steyr Zephyr, made in 64. 4-5000 made, this being the rarest of them.

Love the Zephyr, Northman. I bought one used 30 yrs ago. Only thing it needed was a magazine! That was not an easy find but $125 later I was good to go.

Yeah, he had a perfect winter pelt. I had him skinned out and had it made into a hanging pelt. Turned out very nice. It hangs behind the TV, much to my wife's dismay...

I wish Brno made that Effect in 9.3X74R. I'd buy one if they did.

Any Euro rimmed caliber would have been more appropriate. As light as the Effect is, the 9.3 would have been 'fun' to shoot!

It was an oz or two over six lbs before I put a 2X7 Leupold on it. I think it's seven lbs give or take an oz now. Been 2-3 months since I weighed it.

I would be OK with a 7 pound 9.3X74R. I think it would kick some, but not so much that I'd dislike it. My Ruger #1 is heavier. It's about 9 pounds scoped, and it's very easy on the shoulder for such a powerful rifle.

How does that Effect shoot? While I'd prefer a more appropriate chambering for them as well, a .30-06 version is on my short list if I can find one once funds become available.

It is well past brisk with just the 30.06 chambering. Basher, I've only fired it once for groups and that was with ammo loaded for an 03 that I had on hand. It stayed under 1.5" with no problem. My buddy that traded it to me said that he easily got MOA with his reloads and also with military match.

I'd heard a few reports of them not grouping terribly well, and a few saying they were excellent. Glad to hear yours does well. If you ever wanna part ways with it... ;D
