Teeder, finally remembered to check: she's .630" at the muzzle @20" barrel length.

Hunted it the other day and liked the changes a lot. I was appreciating the textured stock versus the slippery laminate, it's lighter, and I like the balance better. Also digging the Swaro on it. At around 5-6X at last light, it's awesome.

Thanks Jud!!!

Funny shït.... about 5 minutes after I typed that post, above, I killed a little forkie with it! Got him here on my own place. Very civilized. I have killed many deer with that rifle and I'm pleased to say that it continues its streak of hitting where I mean it to... another double-lunger at maybe 75 yards? CLASSIC performance from the 225 NP at this speed (2500 MV); big hole through the lungs but no jellying or blowup of any kind. I'm definitely going to play with the 200 NAB next.

I can only speak for myself but having played around with a number of timber rifles, to include levers in 30/30, .358, .32 Win, and 44 mag, and a Ruger 44 mag carbine too, this is the one I love. A great trigger is part of it, compared to levers... a stock that has the right comb for a scope... etc. And as far as cartridges, we all know there's 18 million ways to poke a hole in a deer, but for close and mid-range work .358 is pretty amazing.

So yes, all y'all should build 20" Model 7's in .358! smile

I'll probably get a model 700 and have it chopped & re-bored. Restock it with something decent eventually and be in it relatively cheap.

I bought a cheap digital postal scale.... it says it's 6.9 lbs, scoped, empty.
