The suggestions in the other thread prompted this thread. I spoke with them a while back about this and they actually suggested I put this on here. I've been too busy to start another project, but the timing is better now.
You guys interested in a special run of Barrett Fieldcrafts?
They already told me they'd do it with a few limitations. It would have to be right handed. Special stock color, special barrel contour and maybe cut-rifled? Something they already chamber or something that could be done with minimal modifications would be on the table.
Let's hear some thoughts and we'll go from there. I'll communicate with them discussing possibilities and they'll be following this thread.
Whatcha want??

#2 contour, 22" barrel on the current short action chamberings. Nothing too special.
8 twist 270. But that should be standard.

I want a short action 270, but I could live with the real thing too Billy.

They've nailed the lightweight, not much to change. I suggest a longer range platform as a partner to the lightweight.
6.5 Creed of course.
3 - 4ish contour barrel, depending on what the stock can handle (current stock will work great).
Free floated for use with a bipod. Ive tried several FL bedded stocks with and without bipod. POI changes with the FL bedding and bipod.

.223 or 5.56, 1/7 twist, 18” TB.
I’d buy two for myself and 3 for the shop.

A 1 in 8" 7mm Rem Mag would be nice.
Or the same in 280 AI.

I like the 6.5-06 idea or 6.5-284.

338 Federal, #2 contour, 21 inch barrel. This is interesting.......or how about a .300 Win 1:10" or 1:11" twist with a 23" #2 barrel, Cerokote the barrel/action black with a brown stock would look cool....Thanks Hb

This. Just use their long action contour at 22" with their short action. 6.5 CM, 7-08 are both interesting to me with the 6.5 in first place, but a plain .308 would be ok as well. Edited to note: Could be 24" on the barrel. Easy enough to cut/crown as desired.

Do one run of two rifles. Half short action, other half long. Brown stock red pad. Shorty: 243 or 6creed 8 twist no shorter than 20". I say 24, because I have a hacksaw and coffee grinder. Long: 280. Twist it right for heavies. And 24". See above.

A 280 Remington with an 8 twist would be of interest as would a 6.5-284. A 6 BR would be nice in the short action.

Like to see 6.5-284, or 284. Especially now that good brass is readily available. #2 contour. Very potent without the mag price of recoil on a light platform. Dick
