What a clusterphuck.
Maybe it's just me, but if I wanted a different paintjob or stupid assed red pad, I'd do it myself, instead of asking Barrett to make it in a special run. Paint jobs and pad replacement are well within the amateur hobbyist realm. Rebarreling to a different cartridge, twist, or contour is a bit more involved, and is something I'd rather leave to a smith........... or for a factory to build ias a special edition. Hint.

Ya know what, I changed my mind.
My vote is for about whatever non-SAAMI cartridge is out there, let's go with a 7mm Mashburn, because that's a fire favorite for those looking to be difficult. 28" #5 contour, spiral fluted barrel, threaded right hand metric because I have an off brand suppressor that you need to make work. Purple stock with brown speckle. 12" length of pull, because Take_A_Knee said a short LOP is best for squaring up to a target.
I think that about does it. I'll pre-order five rifles, right now.

If I decide to go with a purple stock, there's always Krylon.

I like this one in 6.5 CM. donsm70 6.5 CM with a #2 contour using that stock would be excellent.

To me, some realistic build options that would fill a useful niche:
6BR, 7 twist, current short-action platform, must feed well
6.5 Creed, 8 twist, #2 contour @ 22 inches
284 Win, 8 twist, #2 contour @ 22 inches, brown stock, red pad, midnight blue cerakote
same as above but in 270 Win with 8 twist (which should be standard anyway)
The 284 as speced above would be the best seller in limited edition; the 270 the surest seller.

I want a barrel heavy enough that Barrett deems it unnecessary to FL bed so that a bipod can be utilized.

6.5x284 or 284 Factory contour feels fine to me, maybe threaded. Green or Kryptek Typhon coated stock.

I like this one in 6.5 CM. donsm70 Ugh, loud, had to go wash the barf out of my mouth after that bad boy jabbed me in the eyes... OD green w/ black speckling and a classy black pad forever and always. .30-06, 19" #2 with flared muzzle and 5/8x24 threads for suppressed elk thumping..... 3 position safety while we're at it.

280AI or 260 Rem. Either can be done with existing bolts and tubes & they already chamber the 260 in other models. 22" threaded bbl. Black cerakote the metal. Brown stock with a black pad. None of this ghey red pad on a synthetic stock BS.

None of this ghey red pad on a synthetic stock BS. 260 (or let's be loony and say 260AI) would be an easy one to do with their long action contour using materials that are already in-house....same with the 6.5x284 another mentioned. I happen to have brand new 260AI dies and Laupa brass so I could jump on this....but at the same time, the reason those items are still new is the 6.5 CM.

i would just like one with a hinged floor plate. I think they did it right on everything else. Oh, and make it in 243 with a 22 or 24" barrel for speed.

Since wood and blued steel haven't been mentioned it must be dead. I would think that would be a nice Limited Edition version.

SAS, How many do you need committed to do a run? Maybe there is enough interest to do both a SA AND a LA (280, of course!) run...

I was originally thinking a nice walnut with reddish pad would be nice.
But, along the lines of the Barrett Fieldcraft, I'll go with brown carbon and a red pad, 22" #2 barrel, or #3 fluted, chambered in 338 Federal with iron sights all in a matte black cerakote.

Fairly common theme I'm seeing is a brown stock with a red pad.
Caliber is a little all over the place
So far:
6mm Creed 6.5 Creed 270 Win 284 Win 280 Ackley 65-06 250-3000 223 338 Fed 6 BR 6.5-284 7 Rem Mag 6.5 SAUM
Seems the 6mm Creed, 284, 280, and 270 are mentioned a lot
you forgot my 358 winchester!!!
