If mine had been 12 lbs, I might have kept it ........ it felt more like 15+ lbs. :^)

I have one. Used it to whack trapped coons a few times. I never carry it. Bought it cheap on consignment years ago in like new condition. There were a few variations of them

I carried a .22 Magnum for 11 years as a third stringer behind the duty gun and a S&W Model 42 in a leg holster. The HS was clipped to the body armor in a Bianchi #6 swede IWB holster.

From what I have seen prices for a nice one start at about $250.00...

I bought a nice one three of so years ago for $200. Mines trigger pull is not too bad, probably 10lb but smooth enough to do some surprisingly decent shooting with it. I carry it quite often tucked behind my billfold. Mine is just a LR version not the magnum.

I've had both 22LR and a 22 Mag. Decided I'd rather have a 38+P. Had them for a while but carried them less and less so eventually sold them. It's for sure better than nothing. Empty it in someones face, you will certainly have their attention.

The ones I've had shot high. Straight, but high.

I used to carry a 22 Mag version on raft trips for the odd Rattlesnake. 22 Mag shotshells have nearly twice the shot as compared to a LR.

On one trip we had a bit of an issue with another group and I swapped it out for a Model 60 (.38 Special).

I had mine to the gunsmith twice for weak hammer strikes failing to ignite the primer. He told me to quit carrying it in my back pocket --- said I was bending some part on it. Anyway, I sold it at a gun show. After missing it a bit, I bought a clone (in LR) made by the now defunct Sundance Industries.

Stupid question... Did your derringer rust up on you because I had to keep a coat of Vaseline on mine, It started freckling on me and it was a battle keeping the old girl tidy.

I've had one since 1966. It has been a top choice for second gun pocket carry. Lucky no rust for me.

Mine never really rusted because I took it out of the holster every day and wiped it off. But most of the finish is gone from the barrels.

My 22 Mag was Nickle Plated never carried it but it shot well. About 1.5 ft hi though . Never showed any signs of rust. Had the wallet holster you could shoot from. Clinton ERA was told it was illegal to use the wallet holster as I recall.
