Shot this Saturday evening. The best part is my 20 YO son passed him up at another stand Saturday morming. He said his rack was not big enough and was waiting for something bigger. Dang kids are spoiled . LOL

We were both suprised how big his body was especially for whitetails where we hunt. My spring scale had him at 201 pounds, but my digital (which I trust) had him at 191.

Nice. Too bad the G3 was broken.

Yeah, I agree. He had good mass but I do wish that G3 was intact. Thanks.

I saw three bucks yesterday, and I think if I'd added up all their mass it would near about equal your buck....

Have not had a chance to really examine it yet. I am guessing 3.5 or 4.5 YO. Saving it until I get a look at it.

I should have said "live weight". It was gutted after being weighed. I know Midwest hunters are not impressed but this is a heavyweight for the southeast. Heck, Midwest does probably go 150

That's a shooter every day in my book. Where in the southeast did you get it?

John, my brother,

Forget the busted tine ... Just think of this fabulous HEAVY fighter. What a magnificent buck and one that truly transcends score.

The buck of which I am most proud was one I killed (not harvested, KILLED) in Alberta. He didn't score worth spit, but who cares??? He was the THE BOSS BUCK in the area he ruled and I killed him on his own turf. He was 7½-years old and I always considered it an honor to have been able to hunt him to ground.

Here is a photo of him:

Anyway, my Brother, TOTAL Congratulations!!!

Blessings,

kd

PS. It's impossible for me to believe that your son is 20-years of age. Holy Crap, where does the time go??? grin

Being from Louisiana I share your experience of smaller bodied deer. Good ones like that are to be proud of. I have almost given up on killing a truly big/heavy buck. I've killed my share but nothing over 185# live weight until my last buck which I took on private property in an area of the state known for the big ones. I wonder just how heavy he was in the early fall for he weighed 240#after the rut. I was in disappointed by the antlers that somehow shrunk between the time I pulled the trigger and when I got to him. He was a reasonably heavy 8pt but suffered from short time length. He was definitely not in the same class as your great buck! Good luck and I hope your next buck is even bigger. Hunt hard and shoot straight!

Nice buck! The biggest north Alabama buck I've ever killed was around 150.
