I recently acquired a Savage model 99F .243 win with date code Y with a Pronghorn scope in really nice condition.
Serial number starts with 924XXX.
Anyone have an idea of value? near as I can tell it seems to be a 1958 model.

Those things are all over the map in F and .243. I sold a later one for about $500, but the norm is in the neighborhood of $900. +/-

Date code of Y with serial number 924xxx doesn't match. Serial number 924xxx would be a date code of H for 1956 or maybe an I for 1957 (not every gun went out the door in serial number order).

Y would be 1971, and would only be correct if the serial number started with an A. If it's a 1956 gun, it will hve a lever safety. A 1971 rifle would have a tang safety. Either way, good gun (though the 1956 is much more desirable to collectors)!
