I always went to my FIL's camp in northern PA but he passed on and I haven't had a camp to go to for several years now. I want to get a camp in the next couple years and the normal way to do it is to get a camp within 4 or 5 hours of home. I have local friends that have a camp in Missouri and one in Montana. They don't get there but a couple times a year but seem to really like it. Camp for me was always within 2.5 hours of home but I might consider a deer camp in the upper midwest. I used to want a camp iin Vermont but the deer herd is on the wane there now. How far do you go to camp?

Colorado anywhere from a 1 hour to a 3 hour commute, less if I start from my place of work, and it's me alone hunting except for two of the past 21 years.

Missouri, 2.5 hours. It's usually me and a couple buddies. They live in Missouri.

My son used to come to camp, but I lost him to Bass fishing. He started out working at BassPro in high school and got addicted. Now he travels all over fishing.

According to him, if the weather is good enough to deer hunt it's good enough to Bass fish. In his words, "Sorry, dad, I'd love to go deer hunting, but bass are biting somewhere."

I don't know where I went wrong smile.

Two in Minnesota and one in Wisconsin. One is a hour away, the other two are 3-3 1/2 hour drives.

Wherever I park the camper. It could be anywhere throughout northern Nevada, but it's often 17 miles south of the Yomba Indian Compound.

Growing up our camp was in PA. Haven’t been back there in years.

I’d love to have a camp this side of the Mississippi. Not much really, stretch of land with some access to public land. A yurt with a stove and an out house would be good. A big outdoor fire pit and a big western sky a must.

Lots of deer and birds would be top of the list. Elk a plus. Antelope a bonus.

I'm in KY's Zone 1, so I can take unlimited anterless deer.

I'm 63 miles door-to-door-- that's with a drive through downtown Cincinnati. Half is on divided highway, the other on twisty back roads.

I would highly recommend any of the Zone 1 counties in Kentucky.

Our old Home Ranch in N. TX. Stonewall County on the Double Mountain Fork of the Brazos River. We use my Grandparents 80 year old Ranch House for our Hunting Camp. It has every thing except AC.

Do you get there much? Reason I ask is because par for the course here in PA is to have a camp within four hours of home and me it up a couple weekends every month. My friend who has the camp in Montana get there once a year and the one with the camp in Missouri goes there twice a year.

I closed on mine in September and am here now. It’s opening morning and so far it’s a rain out. The previous owner build several elevated blinds which are the norm here in central Michigan, but I don’t like hunting out of those. I prefer the ground or tree stands. I like to be in the woods not cut off from it by a box. Those may come in handy if we have a real cold season but it’s been mild temps so far. Plus I have not inspected the different blinds to make sure they are sturdy.

Anyway I am 4.5 hours away and want to get here every 2-3 weeks. So far so good. I have heard two shots while writing this. Maybe piling on some rain gear is in the near future.

Lots of clubs in Eastern N.C. with a long season. Some clubs only have a handful of members and others are quite large with 30+ members. One of the best things about deer camp is getting away from the house a while and enjoying the fellowship of kindred souls.

For the past 35 years I have lived on 55 acres in Indiana next to a large chunk of state forest. I am retired now but made the decision when I was working to have an hour commute to work in order to live in the country. A five minute walk out my back door puts me in my stand. However, for ten years I hunted western Illinois with my FIL and it was a 5.5 hour drive to camp. Went two to four times a year.
