It's been a crazy fall, finally got a minute to toss this up here. Apologies if you've seen elsewhere. I got to spend a few days doing my very favorite type of hunt this September, a backpack trip up high for mule deer. With lots of meat left in the freezer I had a chance to be picky. I hiked in to a general unit I'd been in a couple of years ago and set up shop. For the first couple days the weather was kind of like this. I glassed when I could but didn't see much; listened to a lot of music and drank a lot of tea. I saw a few smaller bucks like this one and one decent framed deer missing a back fork. When the weather broke I carried on with my plan working some high basins. After finding a smaller buck bedded, this one and two others appeared. Aside from pretty heavy wind the shot was straightforward at 250; I held as needed and that was that. I wound up camp the next morning and made it home in time for a late supper on my final day. It's about my favorite type of mule deer frame, and I'll sure enjoy looking at it over the years.

I followed the advice of this forum and looked real hard for a yeti, all I found was this old bison skull. Safe to assume it was a yeti kill from several hundred years ago.

Awesome man. I agree that backpack Mulie hunting is the absolute best hunt around. Also, good to see I'm not the only one that carries 2 Hilleberg shelters Tanner

That's still such a great buck. Did you get him cleaned up yet? Just swapped Phil a clean elk head for a bloody deer head.

Loving the Hille tarp 5, the cut is just perfect. I'm whitening it up a bit more, otherwise done.

Also, good to see I'm not the only one that carries 2 Hilleberg shelters I carry three. Seriously though, great buck, congratulations!

Awesome hunt Glen. That's a great buck and a cool find with the skull.
Looking at that loaded pack makes my back hurt. You are quite the man to make it out in one trip.
Well done!
