Looking to buy a Howa barreled action and have a couple questions. First, how good is the Howa Cerakote finish? How weather resistant is it? Also, how do the lightweights shoot? Thanks

I bought one of the howa Kuiu rifles in 6.5 creedmoor back in August. Lightweight 20" barrel, milled out action and bolt handle, cerakote. It shoots great. It'll put barnes 127gr lrx, and 142gr accubond LR into less than 1" when I do my part. In fact, it shoots everything I've tried pretty well, 140gr Fed fusions are about the worst at around 2". It comes with the crappy Hogue stock dipped in a Kuiu camo pattern. I'm planning on swapping my stock soon, but not because it doesn't shoot well enough...It just feels more like a club, than a rifle stock for a nice compact rifle. The cerakote finish looks really nice in my opinion. In terms of durability, so far so good for me. I hunted with it for a week in October for mule deer in eastern OR... On and off rain and snow through much of the hunt. I bumped it on a rock and it left a scratch in the finish on the barrel, but it didn't get down to the metal. Buffed it out a little, and now the scratch is barely noticeable.

Now to the good part, if there is a Sportsman's Warehouse anywhere near you, go buy the Howa Kuiu rifle. They are on sale right now for $399. Less than a barreled action. Sell the stock for a few bucks and replace it with something better. I'm probably going to go buy one in .308 just cause it is a great deal on a darn good rifle.

I have the Howa multicam with cerakote FDE finish. So far it has held up great. The rifle is a shooter also.
