Even at $895.00, today I don't know if a fella can get much more rifle for the money. Even in kit form, as S99 has mentioned, a fella is going to have a bit of change in the parts. Track's kits are almost as expensive as the Dixie rifle and more if any upgrades or labor are included. The Chambers and TVM kits aren't inexpensive either. 'Course, depending on the skill of the builder, a kit rifle can come out a lot more svelte than the Dixie's.

Even at $600, that's a pretty expensive toy. Add another $100 at least to get geared up to shoot it..........I'm thinking I can buy a lot of balls and powder for my .50! Guess I'll keep an eye out at the Pawn shops and such for a small bore and hope to be that blind pig.

Taylor's carries Pedersoli Kentucky-types in various grades. I believe the percussion models are nipple and drum, which is authentic, I suppose, but I prefer hooked-breech guns. Those Track of the Wolf drop-in barrels would make for a pretty hefty rabbit gun, I think. The Senecas were popular largely because they were light and handy; that and the pretty dolphin-hammer.
What fresh Hell is this?

If you're trying to justify buying a new gun based on how much you'll save in powder and bullets ( and brass with a centerfire ) you have much to learn, "grazzhoppahhh". 'tis true of cars, too: by the time you buy and insure a 2nd one you'd have been way ahead, over the life of the vehicles, to just pay for 11-12 mpg for your 1 ton truck. Nope, if you want a new gun, you're going to have to buy a new gun 'cause you want a new gun. It's the only reason that works. (I know, I've tested it a whole bunch of times.)
