Bob, Is the trigger all that bad? These have the Pre Lawyer triggers. Very little travel/creep and most usually deep in the trigger housing, so a gentle squeeze (as it should be) is all that's required. Is it adjustable? or is it EASILY adjustable? I'ld clean and dry it (ether works well) and a puff or two of graphite should give you a nice huntable trigger

In my data I have 24xx from MadDog as a 1958... and it would be an early 1958. So 27xx would be an early 1958, also.

The seller is a man of few words. He didn't say what caliber but If you look close at the pics you can see it's a 30-06.

If you look under the Item characteristics, it is a 30-06.

So the older savages had hindged floorplates? When did the blind magazine start happening?

The older 110's had stamped steel floorplates that were not hinged. So, it's really sort of a blind mag. Hinged floorplates were introduced with the DL model.

Thank you, appreciate the clarification. I really had no idea. All the savages I have had have been blind magazines. ( model 110E's)

Looks the same as mine, I noticed that it didn't sell... What do you guys think is a fair price for one of these? I plan on using mine for awhile. I like to buy a gun every once in awhile to just experience them, I don't fall in love with every one I use though. MB

I originally posted that rifle auction a few weeks a go. 'ish, to see if anyone wanted it. It looks pretty darned good to me. I'm betting on them becoming more desirable as word gets around, so I went ahead and bought it. Didn't need another one.

After shipping and pickup it's $470. In todays market that's average and that's fair for it's condition. It's an absolute steal for the quality, performance, feel, and I think investment potential of these rifles. Would like to have gotten it locally for the $400 it sold for, but that's the deal with internet sales, there's cost on top of purchase price, and it all counts in the final number.

My personal belief is that they are underappreciated and therefore have unrealized investment potential.

The wild cards-
politics
new shooters want black rifles, not classics
old shooters dying off

Gun buying- It's gambling, with benefits. wink laugh

Thanks for the advice FB2. Guess I stole mine only paid about what a well used 110E with a cheapo scope costs. It don't weigh much I think I'll find me a used Leuopold Vari X II 3x9 for it. With the rifle being as light as it is maybe I'll try to work up a 130 Barnes tsx load for it. MB
