I know I'm late to the party here but those are some sweet cars!
My dad had a '67 SS396 Chevelle. Wish he would of kept it, it's my favorite muscle car. I'm gonna get one someday.
My uncle still has the Mopars he bought new. A '67 GTX 440, 4 sp. A '69 Super Bee 440 Six Pac. It was a auto he put a lever in it. The GTX has been restored, it was in really good condition to begin with. The Super Bee needs to be finished. Awesome cars.
NYH1.

For some reason this one simply stands out to me. I always thought this model 1967 Plymouth Belvedere with squared off lines would become a classic. Sorry for digging up an old thread. When I was in high school. One one my friends turned 16. His dad always drove old "beater" cars bought at auction or the wrecking yard. Max's dad found one if these (1966 I think ?) that had been rear ended, and totaled by the insurance company. Back in 1979, I think he paid something like $100 for the car. It was missing the trunk lid. We used it like an El Camino or Ranchero. It was a pretty fast car. One day his Dad told Max that he was going to have to sell the car. Max was pretty upset. His father told him that he could have all of the cash from the car. Apparently, someone drove by their little fruit stand, saw the car, saw that is had a 426 hemi in it and offered his dad $1500. Steve told the guy $2000 and it was his. So, Max ended up with $2000 bucks, and bought himself a new 1981 Yamaha TT500 motorcycle, much to his fathers chagrin. I'm sure that years later, he wished that he had that old "beater". Thanks for digging it up. I loved the old Mopars, had many back in the day, but the last one I had I sold about 15yrs. ago. It was featured in a book about post war muscle cars. Here's a couple of photo's taken from the book. This book photo was autographed by Miss Mopar

I'm not big into rods, but this one is very nice. Factory rims would be better

I figured there would be chicks wearing string bikinis and high heels. What a disappointment. Guess I was thinking of those California shows.
Still, nice cars though.

Someone was saying this GTX is one of the more collectable cars there. Mopar Muscle... YES ! ... I owned a twin to this car. '68 GTX (Gas Tires and Xtra oil) Silver over black with black convertible top. 440 Super Commando, Hemi 4spd trans with 23 spline input shaft, Dana 60 rear axle. Ran like a scalded dog. Good times ! Still have the aluminum "440 Super Commando" air breather decoration hanging somewhere in the barn.

Camera was just a Samsung Point and Shoot. I like the clarity and depth of color it has for a 150 buck camera.

Makes me cry when I see pics of cars like this, or see the real thing at an auto show..
and then I think of all the ones I remember people having,,, and driving them in the snow and salted roads of winter, with them rusting out...
My wife's first car was a Super Bee her brother bought from someone for $35 because the body was so rusted out after 11 Minnesota Winters...
He pulled the 383, put a 318 in it for my wife... and let her have it as her first car...

I never owned any cool 60's muscle but I have 5 brothers that did. The 340 Duster with the 4 barrel brings back memories. Brother had one that was a sleeper (for you youngsters, no indication that it was fast) and I won a lot of races with that baby. They made a 440 with a 6 pack that must have been insane.

Eventually parted out my GTX due to body cancer and multiple slices in the convertible top due to thieves wanting to steal stuff. Purchased a ~1971 Dodge Demon (Dart/Duster) rolling chassis. Had all of the parts to build a bracket car with the GTX drive line. Had the shell body stripped down to the point that I could squat lift either end of the chassis by myself. And then along came marriage and babies. All went down the road to pay for necessities... Oh Well...
