The plan would cut the total amount of land in the state’s red rock country protected by monument status from more than 3.2 million acres to about 1.2 million acres, the Washington Post reported.
Trump has reportedly told U.S. Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, and other Utah officials that he will follow the recommendations of Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke regarding the monuments.
Bears Ears was designated a national monument in 2016 by President Barack Obama. Staircase-Escalante was designated in 1996 by President Bill Clinton.

and the no trespassing signs go up. If you can,t afford to purchase the land how is working guy
going to have a chance to use the land? It will become private property real quick. The states will
have even more control over the land until they sell it.

I don't think Trump's actions here give any land to the states (Utah). The lands just won't be under monument status anymore. They will still be federal lands.

Odd that that wasn't done prior to Clinton and Obama establishing them then. They had a hundred and some odd years to do, but didn't.
